There's a lot of misconception happening in this thread. I'm not posting much here because I don't have answers that I can release to most of your questions, but all of that information is coming (as Jim and others have been told via email). When that information is available, I'll get it out to everyone, FPSadmin included. Jim's on my distribution list, and gets all the same info that other folks do. What I won't do - those of you who've had discussions with me know this - is get involved in He-said/He-said arguments. Jim can post what he wants in his reviews. It's absolutely his right to write what he wants, and in whatever tone he wants, especially on his own website! He frankly didn't post anything particularly unique from what anyone else posted about the event. Everyone who wrote about the event wrote the same issues in their articles, and everyone's being treated the same. BulletWorm did, Pete did, Matt did, After-Hourz did. I send out info as it becomes available. Those who choose to engage me further do so, and I respond in kind.

So you guys are welcome to get angry at me all you want, but I'm still chugging away at this game. Now, conventional wisdom would tell me that that's exactly what you'd want from me and the developers - to keep moving forward. That's just what we're doing. However, if you want to be angry at me, feel free. I don't entirely get it, but I'm not going to be offended by it, personally. I'm just going to keep on working toward my committments to this game and the community that surrounds it. With that said, I'm going to duck out of this thread because, as I said, I don't want to get into a big back-and-forth. Bickering isn't going to get anyone anywhere, and my primary concern is and has always been, as I already said, this game, and the community that surrounds it (including the admins).

I think we see where your coming from BH and I think we can all understand a reluctance to release information that you feel maybe incorrect or unfinished.

That said the game is finished and your pressing it out now so a little advanced Admin information even a week before you go retail would be very very welcome..

I thank you for your reply as we were beginning to feel a little abandoned over here..lol..I am sure Rude will also...Remember a huge amount of Airborne admins will be visiting this site in order to get their server set up correctly and they'll need all the help they can get especially as many will be used to Quake based Engine servers for games like MOHAA and COD..

Thanks for stopping by Blackhat, we appreciate it.

As you know by the posts here, my members feel you could have stopped by after my reviews hit the streets and offered the same reassurance as you did other sites that seemed to delay their reviews of what we all saw. (Hint if you have not got it yet, that is what I take personally)

What gets me is, you've replied to a lot of server questions else where, why not here?

I also understand, you're angry at me for posting what I posted. I guess it was a mistake to invite the dedicated (no pun intended) server guy to the MP event EA hyped.

It was nice knowing you Blackhat as it already seems that, while I may be on the simply PR mailing lists, I've already been removed from some of the more detailed lists, shall we say. That's fine, as in my email to you we've gotten by without EA over the years, why change now.

Good luck to you and your team Blackhat, here's wishing you a great release and much success with Airborne :salute:

Jim - for you this may be a "us v them" type of world, but for me it's not. There's no adversarial nature here, at least not on my end. If you want there to be one, then that's your choice. It's not in my best interest, nor is it in anyone else's. It's counterproductive. None of you community guys are my enemies, and most of the other leaders don't try to prop me or EA up as their enemy. As I said, there's no "us v them" in any of this. My only request of you is that you please stop trying to make it about that. There are no bad guys here. What matters most in all of this is the game and the community. If you're still personally offended by something, that's yours to work out, and that burden shouldn't be borne be the community at large, which is WHY I've refrained from perpetuating this whole ordeal. If you continue to be offended, you can choose - make remarks about it in your news to make people think that I've somehow put in less than 150% for this community and this game, or you can email me about it, tell me what's wrong, and work it out. I've always invited people to email me. Hell, anyone in this thread who's offended can feel free to email me as well: BlackHat@ea.com. I've NEVER been opposed to discussion, but I won't get involved in bickering. I just won't.

You are correct there are NO bad guys here.
I think many misunderstand the passion some people feel for gaming and believe that when someone from outside the industry such as a plain ordinary gamer makes a critism it is to either malign the product or it's makers.

When in fact they see as clear as day mistakes within a product that others cannot.
To speak as you find and do it with truth and honesty is a very valuable commodity as I have often found that to be sycophantic only leads to a false sense of security in something that may ultimately be found wanting.

Airborne has huge potential and especially on the PC where it can be modded and adjusted by people like Bulletworm and others to extend the Life of the game way beyond the developers original intent.

The community wants and has indeed been requesting for the past year or so a game of true excellence to place the Medal of Honor series back on the WW2 FPS crown it lost to Call of Duty some years ago.

So much was expected by a patient community in the hopes that EA would deliver.
So for many the MP summit proved to be something of a let down with regards to the product as it was presented at that time.
Much was missing and much has been promised since.

I believe everyone wants to see this title succeed especially those in the MOH community and even more so the Admins who will be investing so much more than simply purchasing the game.

So "us v them" is not even a discussion worth getting into rather how can "we" help each other to make the game the long standing success which "we" all want to see happen.

communication=Information=support it's simple, effective and breeds success quicker than field full of rabbits.

I respect a honest review of the game, that is what we need as the general public buying the game and spending their money on. I have read all of them.

I really dont see the "us vs them" on here, I think BlackHat you should of posted on here as well as the other sites to inform us on what EA is doing about the fixes regardless of the review, negative or positive.

Everyone one posting concerns, questions et... are die hard MOHAA fans and want whats best for the community so we have a game that lasts as long as the original series.

What it comes down to is our questions, concerns addressed because we want to see the game succeed.

I have some things I would love to add but I will refrain.

I will say this. Always say what you mean and mean what you say. Don't change your story based on who you are talking to at the time. This is critical in ones efforts to deal with the public with any level of respect.

A little line to help anyone through life. "Always tell the truth. That way you never have to worry about remembering what you have said."

On the topic of server sizes I found the following on www.unrealtechnology.com

Client-server model supporting up to 64 players as provided. Also supports non-dedicated server (peer-to-peer mode) with up to 16 players.
If I understand what has been said thus far they are struggling to get the dedicated server to perform just at or above the advertised capability for the peer to peer server???

In a perfect world, that'd be great. I'd go tell everyone at every fan site. I can devote a lot of my time to forums every day, but not all of it. That's why I have the community leaders on email lists. I've dozens of sites I'm in touch with, and the best way to get info out is to email those folks, and let them dissemenate the information down to their site visitors.

I've given what info I could on the situation to those email lists. Jim was aware of the same stuff as everyone else when the reviews went up, but he's told you himself that he doesn't want to believe it until he sees it. I can't do anything about that. He's concerned that telling you the same stuff other sites told their members (about the big three issues being addressed, the list being worked on, etc) might hurt his credibility in the long run. I can't do much about that at the moment, unfortunately. I absolutely understand his concern, but I HAVE sent that info out to everyone, posted it on a few boards, including the official ones (where I spend most of my time), and I've done what I could to make sure information is getting out in whatever form it can at the moment. The info available is out there, even if I didn't come post it here personally.

I'm sorry if my not posting it here offended anyone, but I'm just one man, and as we near ship, I cannot spend the amount of time on as many message boards as I used to. Hopefully that will be different post-ship, when everything's just "out there." :) As I told Butch on another site, Ded Server info IS coming, and I'll get it out as soon as I can. However, I first want to get everything together, so that hopefully I can release screens, readme's, and lists of options available to admins all at once. And I see no reason why you wouldn't have that BEFORE you even have the software, so relaaaaaaaaax, please :)

Thanks Blackhat.

Everyone should note that BH is attending the gaming event in Germany and may not be around much over the next couple days, if not more. And seeing as I assume he is flying out of LAX, he may be gone longer then he expects....

Have a safe flight BH, here to looking forward to the SP release and a safe return. :salute:

Man how I don't envy you flying international from LAX......

From what I'm told, because of my actions, Blackhat will not take the time to frequent my site and answer our questions, sorry guys that was my fault and I apologizes to you MY MEMBERS and no one else.
That's pretty petty and doesn't seem at all like Blackhat. If he wanted first glance at reviews, he should have asked for them (and got it in writing). Also, given the events at the MP summit -- was he expecting a glowing review?

If one bad review is enough to scare Blackhat off, he needs to grow thicker skin. This is just one review out of HUNDREDS that will be written. Airborne is their baby and no one likes to have their hard work criticized. My bet is they will take all the feedback (perhaps grudgingly) and work their tails off to patch it to be the game they expect it to be.

If Blackhat's reading this or not, i don't know. But i will tell you that i'm a server admin first and foremost and will do my darnedest to make sure that everyone who asks for help setting up their servers will get support here -- with or without EA.

end rant ... :salute:

To be very blunt and to the point, I have read and re-read Rude's report and find absolutely nothing wrong with it because he was speaking the truth, and as a multi-server admin thats what I want, and thats what I can find here unlike some other sites that don't report the truth only here-say. If I want to read about all the bells and whistles in a game I can go elsewhere to find that info, but what I come here for is how to setup a dedicated server for this game nothing more. If any FPS game cannot support a minimum of 24 players or more it will not suceed, its a proven fact. I am not new to gaming and have always been a MoH franchise supporter even after the PA debacle. It was a sad day for the MoH franchise and dissapointing day for gamers wanting to play and enjoy another game from the beloved MoH franchise and we do not want to see another one plain and simple EVER.

You may not agree with me but I feel as though EA and the MoH franchise owe us all something after wasting money on PA, maybe I am a bit cynical but you need to understand that when I say yes to my 40 man team its their money as well as mine if its wasted on a game that we will never come to play or compete at and I don't want to go through what we went through with PA.

I am glad to see BH that you are man enough to come back here because in doing what was done to Rude, left a very bitter taste in my mouth and I said "here we go again" and that is not what I wanted to be saying since day one of your origional post. I gave kudos to you and EA on our teams fourms for what you did more than a year ago posting here and I thought WOW they know they screwed up (some developers can't and won't admit that sadly) and they are trying to rectify it. Thats what all developers of games should do damit! So I reminded myself of a line I remember reading " Forgiving is not forgetting, it is remembering and letting go." and looked forward to Medal Of Honor : Airborne with that in mind.

Now after playing the SP demo for at least 10 times let me say I enjoyed it...it took very little to get used to and the only thing I did not like was that while sighted you could not move forward or backwards. I don't know if that could be changed or not in the final product but I think it should be. I only hope the MP version is as close to the single player as possible and can and will support minimum 24 players.
