Patch a dedicated?

I tried the hlds tool. I did get patched to 1.2, but now I can't get it patched to 1.3

I don't think am using the tool correctly.

It seems there is a problem with the 1.3 patch. No servers display on the list. My server does display when I start it up but it is at 1.2 so I am unable to join because I am at 1.3 on my client. Last night I did somehow get the dedicated patched up but it would not display in the server list so I rolled it back. Is there a way to roll back the client patch? what is the "easiest" method to patch up the dedicated?

1.4 patch just released......

I DLed the server files using the HLDS update tool fine. Got the server up and running with the commands found on this forum. The problem I am having is forcing it to update to the new patches. For the 1.3 I copied the files from my PC to the server box in my closet. I worked but it is time-consuming. Now with 1.4 out, I again have client that is ahead of our server. Any help would be greatly appreciated because it looks like this "puppy" is gonna be updated quite a bit until it becomes a full grown hound.

Best way is using the HLDSupdate tool. Have a batch file that runs to update the server.

just updated mine to 1.4 in minutes.

Updated finally to 1.4.364 via HLDS tool today ... now getting this all the time after the console loads the DSPL file:

Invalid server configuration - insufficient cpu performance 6.0799 ghz for 18 clients. Minimum 9.0000 ghz required.
Anyone getting this? Same with max players at 16

EDIT: Works when lowering to 12 player slots.... Way to go IW/SH! And still not a scrap of support.

I'm having that problem too since 1.3 patch and with 10+ server player.

I can start the server manually with a bat with no problems but when I try to start it by service on windows i have that error.

Already tryed with same user (Administrator) and Real Time permission but without sucess.

i'm running plenty of servers all 18 slot and not having an issue
Probably because your total CPU Ghz is above the stupid limit now hardcoded in the EXE.

I have a Dual Xeon 3.06Ghz Server which is more than capable of running MW3 with 18 players slots, this all mess is getting ridiculous to be honest. If no response from them in the next week or so ill drop my dedicated server and that will be all.

I have 2 old single core intel processor boxes one 3.2 ghz and one 2.8 ghz.
Both have 2 gigs ram in them.

With 1.2 I was able to run a server on both of those boxes.

Since 1.3 and 1.4 I can't I get the same message.....Invalid server configuration - insufficient cpu performance 6.0799 ghz for 18 clients. Minimum 9.0000 ghz required..... It doesn't matter how many clients I try and run it with.

I have a spare computer with a dual core 2.6 ghz processor with 3 gigs of ram and it works with 1.3 and 1.4.

Not sure now if it is a ram issue a processor issue or just the game itself.

Its a bogus error to some extend. When we first got the files i would get this every so often... I dont think its all that much relevant or an intentional limit set by IW/SH. Bottom line is, no-one in IW/SH seems to know a thing about Dedicated Server nevermind supporting them.

The game's cooked on PC, stick a fork in it :salute:

would you mind sharing that Batch file you use?

Thanks,
iw5mp_server.exe +set dedicated 2 +set net_ip XXX +set net_masterServerPort 28963 +set net_queryPort 28961 +set net_port 28962 +set net_authPort 8769 +set sv_maxclients 12 +set sv_floodProtect "1" +set sv_config "server.cfg" +set sv_maprotation "default" +start_map_rotate

It's not a port problem.

OK, essentially the same as me, can you run 18 player slots like this?
