Two Bad Company rumors squashed
Unlike other dev houses that don't like to comment on rumors, then again they don't comment on much in the way of setting expectations for their community and or customers.
Dice's Repi via twitter said the following: Fyi we will not add prone based on anything. You can stop asking now.
Also Joch over at Bash and Slash, via twitter was reporting on a possible increase in performance when using the +fullproc switch in your BC2 short cut.
Repi replied, rather quickly to Jocks post saying that it should be a placebo as that switch does nothing.
While we may not like Repi's replies you have to respect that he and other BC2 devs are at least "setting expectations" with their community and not letting rumors get out of hand and that my friend is refreshing and all we as customers / community members ask.
Thanks Repi Repi can be found via twitter here

I don't like the fact that there will be no prone, but at least they nipped that question in the bud. I do appreciate that they are listening and replying. Maybe someone could start a BFBC2 wish list thread and see if we get any answers .

FPS game with prone = ridiculous

I agree that it is important to have prone as an MG gunner and a sniper, the implementation of prone to date in FPS games has been far from.....good? While I would argue it is the easy way out to eliminate it from a game, it was far too abused in BF2 until patch 1.5 and Call of Duty wasn't exactly brilliant in its allowing people to keep firing as they dove and jumped.
Insurgency Mod does prone very well and even they have geometry collision issues (aka getting shot in the foot through a wall).

Agreed! Prone is a definite must. Ask any military veteran of any nation.

Personally it doesnt bother me, DICE have now said today that they had it out to keep a certain pace to the game, that is certainly warranted in the Rush gametype we have in the Beta - already attackers often consist of 80% snipers stuck on hill sniping village below .....
They must however sort the crouch toggle so that we can STAY crouch, the way it is currently sucks big time!

To me, this is more important than prone.
I did miss the prone at first playing this beta. But there are so many things to hide behind that crouch worked just as well. You just need to learn how to use your environment around you as cover instead of flopping to your belly.

Um, sure, whatever, crouch wherever you want ... however, you cannot use a bipod while crouching ... unless the legs are 4 feet tall. So, why is it there? <snark>Realism?</snark>

Oh! So True!! Again, ask * ANY * Military person if a PRONE combat position is not VITAL. So is LEAN and its not there either. BFBC2 appears to be set for a Run n Gun heaven. Which is fine - if that's your cup o tea.
In any case, those who desire to buy.... go for it and enjoy yourselves!

BC2 is definitely not run n gun. Its not all the way to realism either - somewhere in between. Actually a nice balance so far. But must have the crouch toggle.

We are not seriously going to have the REALISM debate.
Having prone is a personal preference in a video game. Don't make more out of it than it is. It's just a game people.
