CoD:WaW Patch 1.4 News!
Announced from JD_2020's Twitter
Source -- http://fpsurl.com/?xepez5 Hi all,
As the patch draws nearer, I wanted to post a more comprehensive list of what we’ve been working on for Patch 1.4.
3 new Multiplayer maps: Kneedeep, Nightfire, Station!
Nazi Zombies map with more weapons, Perks-a-Cola machines, and electroshock defenses: Verrückt!
Improved spawning logic.
Auto balancing improvements. Players are no longer auto balanced while completing objectives.
Mods: IWD’s can be placed in the usermaps folder.
Mods: Hold Breath / Sprint functions as intended.
Mods: MissingAssets.csv is generated when maps are run with developer set to 1.
Fixed lag caused by shooting at tanks.
All rifle grenades fired during the first 15 seconds of Search & Destroy will be duds.
Players who equip a Bouncing Betty and melee teammates in Hardcore game modes are now credited with a team kill penalty.
Players are now deducted 200 points for team killing the bomb planter/defuser in Hardcore Search & Destroy.
Martyrdom no longer causes direct impact deaths in Hardcore modes.
“Bayonet jumping” has been disabled.
Additionally, you’ll be happy to know that Map Pack 1 will be completely free for PC users, and included in the Patch 1.4 installer!
The release of this Patch & DLC is still TBD at this time. I intend to release an ETA when we have settled on one – your patience is greatly appreciated.
Regards,
-JD

Great news and thanks Joker
Also glad to see that the PC DLC is free (granted most of us knew that already).
Hope they can get this out ASAP.

Fingers crossed this all works, how many more issues are there left to fix after this patch?

Make sure that you have the latest versions of a custom map BEFORE going onto a custom server that you KNOW AND TRUST. I archive the custom maps into self installing exe files. Too many times have I put on an updated version of a custom map onto my server, expecting that the redirect will take care of those players that haven't yet got the updated map files but NO!! - they get the blackscreen followed by the Windows must close error - and to top it off, they now get a departing gift of Duplicate Qport error when they TRY to reconnect :S
With the release yesterday of Zeroy's Argentan map, not only do you now have a custom map that far exceeds any map - stock or custom - seen in CoDWW, you now have to edit your usermaps folder - you have to delete enough map folders to get under the material assets limit.
If you have TOO MANY custom maps with a load.ff file, you will be using TOO MANY material assets, and you will get the "2048 material assets exceeded" error - you will not be able to join the server.
I had over 30 maps in my usermaps folder - its now down to 17 of the best maps plus a couple of favorites.
For XP users - copy this script and paste it into your Run field after clicking on your Start button - hit enter and Explorer will open up to your hidden usermaps folder.
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Activision\CoDWaW\usermaps\
For Vista users - use this script to get to your hidden usermaps folder:
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Activision\CoDWa W\usermaps\
I don't have an agenda here, but here is my list of maps that I consider worth saving:
mp_506th
mp_akushima
mp_ambush
mp_argentan
mp_beltot
mp_blood_island
mp_foy
mp_gtown44
mp_hunt
mp_marsh
mp_matmata
mp_mohaa_dv
mp_myths_farm
mp_sabre
mp_stalemate
mp_waw_burgundy
I run the Ace 5.2 mod and to solve the 2048 assets error, I had to bring my map count down to 22 - I took it further to give some room for the coming custom maps.

As far as I'm concerned there are still issues with sound that's never been addressed.

Yes this is for sure the biggest let down (along with the iwd in mods folder) that Treyarch has thrown at mappers/modders on this Title.
Some say my map (Argentan) uses too many textures/models, others will say some mods aren't optimized or simply use too many materials. The real answer is that is neither the mappers or modders's fault!
For those who aren't fully aware, the 2048 materials error, when triggered, generates a list of the first 2048 materials loaded before crashing; This list has at least 20 materials unused from Call Of Duty 4:Modern Warfare!!!! Laser and so on. This alone is showing the level of "sloppiness" that Treyarch has shown. The main problem remains that Loadscreens materials (X2 each time) from all maps - custom or stock - is being loaded in that "limit".
Anyways, sorry if a bit off-topic, feel free to move in its own thread if necessary!
I'll conclude by saying that although I enjoyed mapping on Radiant CODWAW, I don't think i will go through the process of another map for this title, the exercise was - still is - painstaking on every level

2048 limit
Well I still get the 2048 material assets exceeded" error on Argentan map, even though I have removed all my custom maps and now only have 4 in my usermaps folder. Also since the 1.4 patch I removed all the custom IWD's from my mods folder so that all I have in it is the mod.ff and the mod.iwd (we play OpenWarFare mod) Its the only one I get this error on, witch sucks because I hear its a great map. If I figure out a fix I will post it hear. Thanks for the info guys.

There is a new release of Argentan just today the 12th of april
It works with the Awe/Ace/OW/C5 mods.
I tried it real quick on the X5 mod but got the 2048 error.
I didnt try paring the maps down. I understand that the Awe mod uses 12 assets, the Ace uses 11 assets, and the X5 uses 16 assets.

Argentan loads/plays fine with SVR also, but there appears to be an issue with my custom gametype DogWars.
It is spamming a "couldn't find path to goal" error, which may mean that the pathnodes are not setup properly.
Otherwise, it's a damn beautiful map
