problem with COD4 multiplayer

I wonder if ppl can help me this is my problem
i join a server with punkbuster enabled and on the choose team screen the game freezes and i have to do a hard restart. this does not happen on servers that have punkbuster disabled anyone got any ideas any help would be gratfully accepted

Make sure you're running as an Admin user. Also, try updating punkbuster: http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php

What difference would that make? Running as an Admin user that is.

As for the link, I gave him that, but still know joy. He has tried other things as well yet none seem to have any effect??

Downloaded pbsetup file from EvenBalance.

Downloaded the latest updates for PB, also hardware.

Checked to see if it was allowed in the firewall. (Norton)

Completely turned off Norton.

Completely uninstalled Norton.

Completely reinstalled CoD4.


Each time he tired one of the above, the game still freezes up, ending in him having to restart the PC.
