Server hung in g_deadChat=1

For some unknown reason (atleast for me) our server has hung in g_deadChat=1 settting which means that dead players can chat to alive players. When you run a server in hardcore mode you don't want that to be possible.

We have set g_deadChat "0" in our server.cfg and we have restarted the server to make sure it "bites" but we can't seem to get rid of it. We can change it via the console but as soon as new map loads it reverts back to g_deadchat=1

Silly question, but have you tried removing the quotation marks from the 0 to see if that works? They are not necessary, but also should not affect anything. Just a thought at this point.

Thanks for the suggestion, i'll try that! The strange thing though is that we never had g_deadChat in our server.cfg and it has 0 as default value. That should, at least in my mind, mean that if you remove the value from your cfg file and restart the server it would become "0"... but thats not the case... not on our server anyways :confused:

How is it on your server? You have g_deadChat in your server.cfg? And if not, whats the value?

We are running respawning gametypes only at this point so I have not even added it to our config file. If we ever run SD though, I will want to shut it off, but at this point we are ok with it.

I don't believe we have it set in our config. I'm at work right now but if this hasn't been answered by the time I get home and I remember, I'll see what mine says by default.

Thanks for trying to help guys, really appreciated! Looking forward to see what you have in your server.cfg: s and what your servers say about the default setting of g_deadChat.

As is now we have "solved" the problem by running the command "set g_deadChat 0" via PB every 30 seconds. Works but not the way I want it to be...
