I supported this a while ago, before it turned into a twitch type shooter. While I kind of like the game so far (limited early alpha tests). It's turned into something I don't care for.

Hoping early access brings more play time but the farther away this games gets from a MOH or early CoD type game the less I'll be playing. I cant see supporting game devs before a game is released. I keep getting let down.

I also backed this one on KickStarter, but have not had a chance to play it yet. the Dev team were behind a mod of CoD:4 to bring the movement and weapon handling of CoD 1 to Modern Warfare.

Have you had a chance to look at Day of Infamy yet? It's currently my favorite WWII shooter.

It doesn't have the super refined graphics of modern game seeing as it's on the CS:GO version of the Source Engine, but the gameplay is excellent.

Man that is too bad that its turning out like that. I was hoping that it was becoming more like MOHAA/vCOD/CoD2. Damn...

Well I have my Beta key and I'll report back once I have had an opportunity to play some.

All we can be at this point is hopeful, I like supporting indie games. Anything to avoid the lootcrate/microtransaction BS of AAA titles has to be good at some level.

If they can recreate some of that CoD 1&2 feel I will be more than happy. If not then there are some other already out and in the pipeline for us to look at.

It feels like CoD and I'm not sure that is in a good way. It's not the best looking game I have seen. Textures are low quality and the map models look no better then a source game from 10 years ago. What am I saying, if these were user generated custom maps you would be really impressed. However these are maps for a commercial game, they are not at all great.

Gun play is very CoD like, zero recoil and lots of jumping about. Yes very CoD like! the hud is an over sized mess. At this point I'm not sure if I'm critiquing Battalion 1944 or old school CoD?!? Maybe there is a reason CoD changed and other games came along to fill the gap.

So if this is indicative of the type of thing they are trying to achieve it's a good game but not a great one. Personally I will continue to test the game as it matures. But also look to Day of Infamy for my WWII shooter fix.

Might check out Insurgency: Sandstorm and Hell Let Loose when those games start becoming playable .

Not ready for early access . Many reasons. Kaleidoscopic colors all over screen. Inability to launch game. Inability to enter game. Playing through the colors the ADS and guns feel like stock Unreal Engine settings with no actual development massaged in to it. It's a rudimentary mod level game based on out of the box UE settings. Pretty sure it's not worth the 14 dollars I paid for it but the light show is in my way. It might be worth 15 dollars

I have had the chance to play Battalion as well and pretty much agree with the comments of everyone on here. I too thought it was going in a bit of a different direction more like MoH:AA and was a little dissapointed to see the way it went. The graphics don't bother me as in competitive play everyone turns down all the settings anyway but I guess I was hoping for something different.

As far as the other games mentioned I have Day of Infamy and Insurgency as well so will be revisiting these especially as I see DoI updating almost daily and a few months back actually put up a server for it.

I think Battalion has the potential to be better but they will definitely need the 1 year timeline they have given themselves in early access to improve things. One thing I will applaud them for is having dedicated servers for the game and modding tools coming which will really help things if the community can get behind the game and make their own maps.

I did have fun playing the game when I was able to get into a populated server. I also didn't mind the way the maps are laid out or the look of them. It's more the way everyone can jump around and shoot which reminds me more of CoD then MoH.

My issue with a return to old school MoH is that to be honest my tastes and expectations for a game have changed.

At this point I'm not sure if it's the game play I miss or the whole clan life thing. Competition, ladders, hour after hour playing with my friends. A feeling of being part of something exciting.

If we could play MoH today as easily as a Counter Strike player can return to CS 1.6 would we be as excited for the old school MoH game play? I'm question is how much of my desire for a modern MoH just rose tinted glasses???

The reason I prefer Insurgency to CS:GO is primarily aim down sights. Running around firing from the hip feels all sorts of wrong to me now.

I like that fact that Battalion used ADS, I could do without all of the bunnyhopping. I much prefer a more boots on the ground game these days. That said I remember spending hours on MoH jumping up in to ledges and picture rails to get the drop on enemies be being in unconventional parts of the map.

I think I need to get MoH running again just to remind me, is it what I want or just rose tint on my glasses???

Well said Pen, I agree it had a lot to do with the community. Throw in some great custom maps and it was a blast to play and just be around.

Old school Cod4 days are back in a world war 2 theme.
Good game, but it was plagued by server issues on start.
They have a great Dev team and working hard on the server issues.

I'm enjoying the game play "once" I can get into a server. It's as buggy as all hell, but gameplay is promising.

I am a little worried that COD4 is considered 'old school'. Really?

[EDIT] I'll probably end up giving this a chance. An old clanmate of mine from our MOHAA days said this:
"I just played a few minutes of it. It really feels like a brand new updated mohaa at 1080p. The rooms seem like the old mohaa too. The maps are different though. the guns seem a lot more fun"

Well said Pen. I had rose tint on my glasses around COD2. Then I played it again and realized it wasn’t the game that made it fun as it no longer met my expectations. It was the people.

The clans, clan wars, community, map makers, modders, etc that made it so awesome. I don’t think any game will recreate that.

I continue to enjoy PUBG due to the intense gameplay. But it’s different. I don’t expect a “new” game to ever be like the community was then. So I looked for what was fun instead and have found it. I would encourage each of you to be open to new games that are blazing a new path instead of ones trying to recapture the past.
