Where did you get these numbers from?

I just went in game and the browser there showed me over 3,700 servers.
Accroding to game-monitor (which apparently doesn't remove all the servers shutdown according to this thread) there are only 1,000 less people playing right now than at 3 PM CST yesterday afternoon. That is with most Americans not really even waking up yet.

I know all the numbers are a little sketchy, but what is your source that shows 50%?

So X/Y= percent of total slots in use.

Example using the numbers sgTsTuFz gave us for US only.

Players: 3,043 / 52,785 (5.76%) Average: 1.42 / 24.71

X=3,043
Y=52,875

So 3,043/52,875= .05755 or 5.76% of total available player slots in use.

I would say that the averages are players per server and slots per server.

1.42 average players per server and 24.71 average slots per server.
That makes sense, players vs available slots. thanks wolf.

SiC is supporting as well after a poll on our member website.

For me, game-monitor usually show 5,000+ servers. Right now it is showing 2,097 so something is happening. As for Saturday, that is usually the busiest day for server activity so this is downward spiral in not just server count but player count as well. We have agreed not tourn a server on until we can put up a snipers only with custom maps.

Everyone is back to cod2 snipers and toying with our new cod4 snipers only

So. These numbers show approximately 200 servers difference from yesterday. This means that rounding up, we have a .05% decrease in servers and an increase of players since Friday. Is that right? If it is I don't think Activision or Treyarch blinked.

Why would they! When they said the patch will be out in a few weeks.

The thing I don't understand is why would you shut down your full servers when a patch is coming out. IMO This whole shut down was not well thought out!

Our server was pointless for my clan anyways, since the fast-ranks have all the traffic no matter what you do.

I've already informed gameservers:
32 Players Call of Duty 5 World at War - cancelling at period end
208.167.251.101:28960

That's sometime in Feb. The server won't be back up before then.

They won't blink because too many people are prepared to pay full price for and play a half finished game with many of the feature of it predecessor either missing or half finished.

Mine are however gone, my clan pay to host the servers we have and we are not prepared to pay for this one any longer. Why? Becasue we don't enjoy playing the game.

We will keep our modded match server up as we have entered a league and wish to honour our committments but our publics will not be coming back until we have a patch that includes at least the basic fixes like http redirect, mod tools, stops folks going under maps, stops folks being able to crash server randomly etc etc etc etc

Why does this sound like something that would have been a "success" no matter what happened?

Yay politics.

Guys,
please this thread was not meant to debate the reasons why, it's simply to point out what is happening in the community.

The point being, the effort is not punitive, nor is it to rebel. The publishers are usually the last. Its been steadily dropping for the last month.

As rudedog pointed out, the point is really what happened to the community and I don't think that this is a fair assessment.

The above statement says that we unified and showed the Treyarch that the community will not support them. I disagree and think that the discussion throughout this thread shows anything but unity (including posters other than myself).

The 1000xp Server thread shows we are divided over that issue and this thread shows we are divided over the boycott issues. The boycott of mods is another point of division. I credit this fracturing to the actions of Activision/Treyarch and those of the community itself.

Hopefully, whenever the patch arrives we will be able to have a discussion about how to rebuild from what is seeming (at least to me) like a more fractured community than ever before.

Thanks Rudedog for pointing out what's happening in SOME part of the COD:WaW community.

In some other parts of the COD:WaW community, they have also chosen to keep their servers up and running and wait patiently for the announced 1.2 patch.
