Hey Penn, just posted on twitter asking if there are any servers up and running with a good number of clients?

Was going to pick this up but not sure if no one is playing.

I have never had a problem finding a populated server. The matchmaking works well enough. The game is on the same engine as CS:GO and some of the backend features are similar. The gameplay is quite different but things like server browser and matchmaking are similar.

Gameplay is definitely hardcore, death comes quick so if you are going to run and gun you better keep your head on a swivel.

I wrote a short article for a Linux community magazine about the game. http://www.pclosmag.com/index.html I have been writing these short gaming articles for a little while now.

Going by those map names that's the listing for Insurgency.

Here is the info on Day of Infamy from Steam.

http://steamcharts.com/app/447820

It is by no means a big game but what with so many games to choose from these days any online shooter that can support 500 to 1000 players isn't doing too bad. The shooter game type is in decline for player base. While games like Dota and League can attract players in their millions first person shooters are seeing fewer players. Most concentrated around Counter Strike and a couple of other games. Even big titles like Battlefield One has way few players than only a few years ago and we all know what has happened to CoD on PC.

500 to 1000 playing Day of Infamy pretty much guarantees that you are going to get a game. Don't forget coop, it's a lot less toxic. The AI is a good challenge and can be a whole lot of fun to play with your friends.

Player Unknowns Battlegrounds is running over 300,000 concurrent players and is a PC only title. It is the the hottest and most entertaining shooter I've played in a long time.

So I've played a bit of DoI yesterday before leaving for business travel.

It was a lot of fun and brought back that old MOH feelings to some degree. Only played on a few practice servers until I got thrown off (per rank or time I guess).

What I like about it is simple game play and was able to find servers with a lot of people.

Regarding PUB, been wanting to give that a try as well just not too into the 3rd person view. But with them releasing first person view I may give that a try. I don't like bouncing around games. I like playing one at a time. So far DoI and I've played a bit of Vietnam 2. Both have been fun. Vietnam takes a bit more time to get antiquated with because of all the in game options and how to play.

First game I remember playing in 3rd person but you get used to it fast. The game will cause heart palpitations. Over 400k concurrent players this past weekend.
