And what's the cutoff limit for backup ? Hostgator has a 20 gig cutoff that they can backup on shared hosting, and I've got 100 gigs hosted

From what I have read it's much like DropBox. I have been using them for years. I also use UbuntuOne where I have the 5Gb free plus 20Gb. Unless something dramatic happens I'll be sticking with UbuntuOne.

However if you and your clan m8's need to have access to the same bunch of files, this could be an option. That said it's not much different from Microsoft's Sky Drive, DropBox or one of a half dozen services. I think Google may be a little late to the party with this one.
