Hi I'm hoping someone can help. I'm trying to login to my steam account but it keeps failing. It comes up with a error Could not connect to steam network, This could be due to a problem
with your internet connection, or with steam network. Ok my internets working fine. I can play COD-UO and BF-2 with no problems. I also checked and steam network is online. Now I've had the Half-life installed on my other computer and it worked fine. But my new one that I just built is what I'm having the problem with. I think I tried every thing, I even reinstalled the game four times, I turned off my firewall and still won't login. now I have a router, but it's the same one I was using with my old machine and that worked fine. Dose anybody have a clue
I'm trying to get this worked out before DoD comes out. Oh I also emailed support over at steam, twice and no response.

I'm sure you already tried this, but humor me... Double-click on the Steam icon in the lower-right-hand corner, choose Settings, and make sure that your Account Name, and other settings are correct. Does it show you logged in?

Steam is really slow because of the DoD:S pre-load activity. I've been pre-loading for 20 minutes now, and its only at 88% (unusual for me as I have pretty good bandwidth). There's nothing special in terms of firewall settings, but, you might want to check your rules to see if you're blocking anything outbound. If you are, try disabling any outbound rules for a short period of time.

Thanks Dog, got it figured out. When I installed all the drivers in my new machine it had a firewall application that I downloaded but never enabled. Once I removed it I was able
to gain access to steam. must have been conflicting with with my other firewall even though it was disabled. Thanks again
