Semi "Automagic" update for both client and server (win32 only):
1. Download Punkbuster (http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbweb.exe) update script.
2. Save the file in the root of your pb dir (ex. c:\programfiles\EAgames\bf2\pb\) IMPORTANT !!
3. Run the file and wait for updates to get downloaded, (this make take some time)
4. If it stops just press ctrl+c, close the dos window and try again.
5. When it's finnished it should say "Press a key to exit"
6. If this is a running server issue the command pb_sv_restart in the game console window. If client just restart/start your game.
Server manual update (win32 and linux) :
1. Download the following files to your \pb\ dir. (right click and save as) file1 (http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/bf2/wc001128.htm) file2 (http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/bf2/wa001310.htm) file3 (http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/bf2/lc001128.htm) file4 (http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/bf2/la001310.htm) file5 (http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/bf2/mc001128.htm) file6 (http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/bf2/ma001310.htm) win32 (http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/bf2/pbsvnew.dll) or linux (http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/bf2/pbsvnew.so) (file 1-6 are common files the last two are for either win32 or linux)
2. Either restart your server or if it's already running issue the command pb_sv_restart
