I'll open up this forum then. ;)

Anyone have got information regarding the timelimit build in in the MP demo? It's said to have a timelimit, but will it be roundbased (resetting the round), mapbased (resetting the map), or server based (quitting the server)? Even more important, how long?

Good question, I'll send this over to Mike at EA. See if he can answer this but please take into consideration they are working over time right now because of the game going gold.

Will report back ASAP once I get a reply.

This "timelimit" issue has been like a fire that needs to be put out for BF2 fans. No one has a clue what it will be atm.

Hope EA sheds some light soon. :)

Anyone having a problem connecting to servers? I've played about 8 or 9 rounds SP, but when I try to connect to MP servers (using the IGB), I get no list (except once, then couldn't connect to the server I chose).

More on this...I was ablle to connect to an HL2 Deathmatch with no problem, so I tried BF2 again. This time I connected ok, and wreaked havoc, I might add...until...I decided to spawn at the carrier. That's when I put a helicopter into the water...:o. After that, the game froze...couldn't get back. The message I got was "there is a problem with your internet connection". Not exactly sure what that means, but I had to ctrl-alt-del out of the game. My bandwidth is ok (about 2.9MB), so, again, not sure. Anyone else getting this?

yesterday I had a couple quick issues connecting. It would dump my back to the config screen. I then could not figure out how to get back into the game. I restarted and all was fine.

Have not played that much today as I working my yard/moving sale :undecided.

The time limit on each round is 12 minutes long. There's already a way to disable the clock, however.

I am sure you are gonna share it with us then. :D

From another forum

If you want to play without time limitations search this file "gpm_cq.py" and open with notepad and find the line that says:

host.registerHandler('TimeLimitReached', onTimeLimitReached, 1)

put a # infront of it so it says now:

#host.registerHandler('TimeLimitReached', onTimeLimitReached, 1)

save and enjoy i tryied SP and it worked there so maybe MP will work too

Thanks Rude, that did the trick. We now have a unlimited server running. :)

Next questions: Does anyone know anything about a cvar list? There are a few commands in the readme, and the rcon is no problem, but now the commands.............

Yeah I know, it's only a demo lol.

Interesting, have an email into EA about this. Not that it matters in a week or so.

It may actually turn out to be a BIG deal Rude. When I read the info about the BF2 servers Ranked servers and all I was wondering what they might do to screw with us. It seems that EA is now determining what is a "Higher Standard of Play"....which is using a "Ranked" server (unmodded) set to their settings. Most of us like to mod things whether its turning off FF or setting a higher timelimit or using Custom skins, etc. This makes our servers "Unranked" or as they say "Wildcard" servers with a sub-standard level of play according to them. I wouldnt doubt that next they will charge a fee to be on their Master server list!!!

I have a feeling it's more about protecting their demo from prolonged play then hurting the community.

Like General Death said over at TMT, don't leave the doors open then complain that someone entered your house.

Once I get a reply I will post it.

They can do that and end up with their sales graph going down and down and more down................

Well, as a company, EA hasn't seemed to care about MP revenue as long as they get their console and SP sales...

In case you haven't heard yet - it's official. EA has an official position on their website that basically says "F you" to server admins. Any modded servers they find get delisted for 1 week. I can see doing this for the weapons, but the timelimit? REALLY lame. Why not wait until 6/21 and then delist any modded demos to encourage people to actually play it for a bit now and then incent them to buy the game when it's released. Hell I'll bet 90% of all the modded demo servers are dropped and converted to real servers by then anway.

Stupid is as stupid does...
