Server Name Questions

I got a few questions on naming my server. For one, how do I get those boxes that most servers have in front of there name? Anyone know that one? Also - How do I make it so I can have alot of characters in my server name. I can only fit my clan name and thats it, I want to put a few more things - For example: =|1FF|= 1st Freedom Fighters Recruiting - 24Pub Server. Althouhg, It only puts in =|1FF|= 1st Freedom Fighters. Some servers have what I want, how do ya do that =)

in your server.cfg file

sv_hostname "yourservernameherehoweverlongyouneedit"

that should fix you up, as for the special character thing I'll let you figure that out, I kind of dispise it.

I use the ~ key in front of our server name, it puts you at the very bottom of the list. We have no problems filling it up. Most people ping less than 50 to it so I'm sure that factors in too.

Forget the boxes, people do that because they think people list by server name. In most cases though people list by ping to go into low pinging servers.. or possibly maps or gametype.

As long as you have a decent server people will find you withouth having to resort to any tricks.

=/ I did that server thing and it didnt work. I put in the following



sv_hostname "^1=|1FF|= ^71st Freedom Fighters ^1[20Pub - FF On]"


and it only shows up as the following:


=|1FF|= 1st Freedom Fighter


Why doesnt it allow more?

it probably just trimmed itself... when your in the server press tab and you should see the full name.
