Shadows Question

One night I logged on to my server and there were no shadows in the Tigertown map. The next night there were shadows. I know I didn't change anything so I'm not sure what happened so here's my questions:

1. Anyone ever experience this and know why it happens?

2. As a client, can I shut off shadows with this cvar: seta cg_shadows 0

3. As an admin, can I disable shadows with the same cvar in my config file

4. As an admin, can I disable shadows through rcon

2. I believe that is the right cvar

3. You don't have to be an admin to disable your own shadows in your own config. If you mean the server config, then I would say no. I believe that it is a client only cvar.

So as a client, I should be able to type in this CVAR in the console whenever I boot up the game, thus disabling shadows for that session? Or, do I add this to my config_mp.cfg file in the COD\Main directory?

ps - The other thing I tried was adjusting my brightness and that helped get rid of shadows.

Save yourself time and add it to your config. But remember it doesn't stop others from seeing your shadow, just you from seeing shadows.
