Random Ports When Running Server?

Hi All,
I have a problem and i sooooo hope that someone can help me get it sorted!
Until recently I had a cracked copy of COD (naughty I know but I like to try b4 I buy!) and could run a server so that myself & couple of my friends could practice, Now I have A D-Link DI-604 router on my PC and I configured it as follows :

Trigger port : 28960 (TCP&UDP)
To open ports : 28960, 28961, 20500 & 20510 (TCP&UDP).

Now like this and with a cracked server my friends could join my server by adding my IP manually using AllSeeingEye as it wouldnt appear in the main server list (which is something I put down to it being a cracked server?) and could join and play fine!

Then as I said I like to try b4 I buy and I believe people who make cracking games such as this should be rewarded, so I went out and spent some of my hard earned on an original copy, I unistalled the old copy and installed the original then tried to run a server so my friends (who have also been and bought an original) could play on our own server and have "outsiders" come and join in the fun! but now when I run a server I can see it on both my "local" IP and my "external" IP but on my "external" IP it seems to be on a random port? whereas on my "local" IP and when running a "cracked" server its on the standard 28960! My friends can all see the server but cant join as my router isnt configured for these "random" ports :( does anyone have any ideas? its driving me crackers :?

think its a shame when you have to run cracked copys :x even if you did go out and buy the origanl the whole thing is well words can not oh **** it you stink :x you need reporting

no such things as random ports buddy, on your router port forward 28960 to your internal ip and it should work fine :-)

its people like him that make it hard for the rest of us problems running are games with all the copy protection going into games these day he needs to be shot :!:

not that I like defending people .. he doesn't have tonnes of copies and it would do him no good, because a cracked version of cod can't be used to play with legit players, so he would have been stuck playing with his couple of buddies ... anyways hes not here for trouble, he just wants to play his *legit* copy of cod online... although he does need to learn one of the reason prices are high for games and music and all is theft ....

i do agree with you but how do you no that hes not one of those guys that downloads the games and then sells them to his friends and in the long run he makes his money and we all have to pay sorry but i cant stand people like that it dont make any diffrence that he brought the game in the end he probly made enough money selling copys he is still scum

how can you support and thief i allways like helping but "NOT" :x when thay steal hands up to him :clap: he did buy it but he should not download copys or copy them thats the real pisstake and i will find out his details and i will report him. in his own word he likes to try them befor buying them so he must have shit loads off copys .................................................. ..

if your right... its a shame, but what can we do ... whats done is done.. IW got their money in the end ... and according to him his friends bought the legit copy as well.

:x Just for all the flamer's information I dont normally play PC games, my friends already had the originals and were banging on about how good a game it was and one of them came round last week and installed it on my pc with a "no cd" patch i loved it so much I went out and bought it!! You are trying to flame me without even knowing the full details! If see a game I like round a friends or somewhere else I Will go and buy it! I said in my original post that people who make good games should be rewarded by people buying the game! does that sound like someone who sell's pirate copies? I joined this forum cause it seemed like a good place to get sound information! so much for the season of goodwill!!!

P.S. I am away at my parents house for xmas which is where I am posting from so reporting my IP or whatever will just cause grief for a couple of pensioners!!
