Just need some opinions....
Would you admins out there like the ability to record demos supported in the next version of the HLC RCON mod?
I haven't gotten any specific requests for it, but TABOOMAN was kind enough to send me the basic scripting to start and stop demo recording.

I don't really think there is a benefit since it is so easy to do the demo's but if you already got the script you might as well add it and someone might find it useful. If it's going to take any time at all though I would think there are some other really useful things you could work on like.
A better way of doing the "server status" checks.. like have the console (or some other list) come down automaticly or something.
Prepare for ban by CD Key when the patch comes out
Prepare to add Headquarters gametype (I'm sure you already knew that)
Instead of clicking a map and the game changes to it, maybe you can click a series of maps and it will load them in order. This would be useful in matches when you have two or three maps. That way it would bypass the normal rotation and play the match maps in order. Just an idea, not sure if it's possible or needed.
Easy way to lock the server down for practices and matches and set a pass.
Load config's at a click
Ability to add some additional customized broadcast messages
I'm not sure if this is the way it supposed to be or not but my guys have to log in as admin through the console prior to being able to use the program even though they have the password in the cfg file that comes with the tool. It would be good if there was a way that the tool would work if they have the pass in the config without having to log in first.
( I know there are many other ways to do these and many find them just as easy but we are talking about features for the tool so I'm just throwing these out)

Let me address a few here:
BAN BY CD-KEY: unless IW wacks-out the command for it, HLC RCON is ready!
HEADQUARTERS: Ready!
CONSOLE QUICKIE PULLDOWN: All set!
CONFIGS at a CLICK: This is certainly possible. HLC RCON could ship with a few different stock server .cfg files, but this would require editing on the user's side. Also, although we would assume they should be familiar with editing the .cfg files, some admin's don't know how and/or what to put in them. I am wishing there was a way to bring up a list of .cfg files to execute but this brings back the listbox problem anyway. Grr.. I'll think about it!
CUSTOMIZED BROADCAST MESSAGES: I'm working on this for certain.
MULTI-CLICK MAP ROTATION SETTING: Don't think this is going to be possible. Might be better just to have the .cfg file ready with the rotation you want, then exec the cfg file through the menu. Hmm, we're back to the .cfg file thing, eh? :)
LOGGING IN AS ADMIN: Are you saying they need to join the server before the menu works? Or that they need to log in literally, as "admin". Please clarify. There is a way to connect through the rcon panel without joining the game (rconaddress xx.xxx.xx.xx:2896x command works). please clarify.

Ok sounds good.. I see your on top of things..
As for the last one (and again I'm not sure, maybe this is the way the tool is supposed to be) when they are in the game, before they can use the tool. They have to first drop down the console and type /rconpassword ******** and log in as an admin.. from then on, it works. I thought maybe since you put the password in the config file, maybe the tool would work when you went into the game and you would not need to first log in as an admin that it would do it for you.

It sounds like the HLCRCON.CFG file is not being properly exec'ed from the desktop shortcut.
Make sure the desktop shortcut reads:
"C:\Program Files\Call of Duty\CoDMP.exe" +set monkeytoy 0 +set com_introplayer 1 +exec hlcrcon.cfg
Double check the spelling, spaces, and quotation marks!

hey holy_moses, did you ever figure out a solution to my problem. (bar not re-enabling) i also have the shortcut setup correctly to my knowledge, but have to login with the console first to be able to make changes. i have to drop down the console and enter my password through there for this to work properly.

Now, as far as having to enter the rconpassword. This is strange. This may be a stupid question, but: Did you put your password in the HLCRCON.CFG file where it says:
set rconpassword "type_your_rconpassword_here"?
Also, I realize that in the previous version, there was a typo in the readme.txt file that instructed the user to add:
+exec HLCRON.CFG
instead of:
+exec HLCRCON.CFG
to the desktop shortcut. Please double check that neither of these are the problem.

wow im glad you finally got to the bottom of that bug. wasnt a major issue, but it was somewhat annoying. anyways thanks for getting that fixed.
as for the shortcut, im pretty sure i have that set-up right. i did notice your typo and fixed that when i loaded it up. also, i have the password in the cfg file. i will double check all that soon. my computer is not setup because im home for the holidays from school (go back jan. 15th or so). i have a 28800 dial up connection here at home so it wasnt even worth trying to hook up. so i cant wait to get the patch and the new version of your mod. great work

Moses, can you add some kind of interface to put ported maps into the list for your mod? We're only using about 6 ported maps but it would be great to be able to access them thru your control panel.
p.s. I stickied your post about the BAR not working in this mod on the www.callofduty.org forums. Thanks for all you've done for the community bro. :smile:

to make sure that hlcrcon.cfg file is execing as you as you start the game drop your console and look if it says
execing hlcrcon.cfg
or
couldn't exec hlcrcon.cfg
if you get the second one then you've misspelled the hlcrcon.cfg file in the shortcut..
if you get none of them then make sure you have +exec hlcrcon.cfg file in your shortcut :)

things that would be great in future versions:
Ability to see and pick custom maps from HLCRON.
A ban setup just like the kick command is setup maybe add a place to put min. for the ban.

Let's say hypothetically speaking point-and-click custom map support in HLC RCON is impossible...
Would it be helpful to at least have a feeder list with all the maps available on the admin's local machine? When the option is clicked on, a box would pop up displaying all of the maps you had by their call-name. Assuming the admin had the same maps as the server, this would at least make it so you didn't need to write the map names down to remember then.
I realize this is not what any of us want, but unless IW added some nifty rcon uiscripts, then the point-and-click custom map support is a pipe dream.
Thoughts?

two things i would like too see is
foul name list too kick them before they get too the game
also a master list of bad language so you can set certain words
then if used they cvan be kicked or die right on the spot
some things from and rtcw shrub mod which was a awesome tool
as these tools here some great talent in these games
so thanks too one and all who spend the time and effort on these for the game

hmm...I havethe rcon set in the HLCRCON.cfg file but I am not doing anything in the shortcut. I have no problem with it, it seems to be running the cfg file wihtout being instructed to do so. any chance that CoD is auto execing anything in the main directory that ends with .cfg?
The reason I ask this is that I have changed the HLCRCON.cfg to hlc.cfg to add it to a self installer to hand out to my admins so that they aren't as aware of the fact that they have a file in their main that has the server rcon password. I have changed this and it still seems to run just fine thus my question about CoD autoexecing .cfg files.

Not that I know of Necrodoggy. Most of the questions I've fielded regarding the utility have dealt with users getting the "bad rconpassword" response from the server. After pointing them to the shortcut/.cfg file, their problems are usually solved.
I'm stumped on that one.

Wanted to say thanks for taking the time to answer my questions via email some time back. The HLC RCON tool is a great thing. Your hard work is appreciated!
I echo Momma's request for ability to type in console messages.
I have never had to log in as admin to use the tool on our server. Of course, I have always had the add-on in the shortcut, so I don't know if it works without it.
Don't know if you have addressed this, but a banning feature would be a great help. Can't seem to get ban to work through ASE.
I find it a pain (but less of a pain with your program) that you cannot see the client number without a status check as it was in MOH.
I would like to see you add a path feature to the RCON commands.
The weapons control feature is nice, but it is hard to tell from the list if the weapon is actually on or off. Maybe add a color to the one it is set to after it is selected.
Another question is servers that are pure will allow the cfg. I realize thet pure is whatever the server allows. Has anyone had problems with matches since the game is supposed to be in the out of the box state? An additional cfg in the main folder raises eyebrows for those who do not know its purpose. We have not started on any ladders yet so that is why I am asking. Sorry if it is elementary I just don't know.
One more thing, can you post where I can get future updates?

I'm still busting my brain trying to think of a way to incorporate custom map control without requiring the admins (users) to do any programming of their own. This has been a challenge.
Banning support will be incorporated as soon as the official patch (which supports banning by CD-KEY) is released.
Regarding the weapons control, Ajax, are you using version 3.1? If so, it should be testing automatically for you to see which weapons are on/off. Please let me know about this.
The console messages is another problem. The issue here is that there isn't a itemdef available that allows a user to enter a string of text and have the .menu send the string to the console. Unlike MOH, which supported an EDIT FIELD resource, the Text Entry Field in CoD only allows you to edit text associated with a cvar. It won't accept console commands. Grrr :x I'm working on it, but no guaruntees...
HLC RCON should not be a problem with PURE servers. It does not effect any gameplay variables, so it is largely ignored by the PURE check.

a couple other things i came across that i thought would make things easier.
Names in kick/ban list or a conversion list (kurtz=30) kinda thing.
A space to add a kick/ban number for servers with more than the 33 i think it has now.
there was something else i thought of but cant remember hmm

What I meant was in the list where you see the weapons and the on/off buttons when you click one, you can't tell which is chosen. Maybe I am just a noob admin and don't know how to check and see, but I once I turned off the sniper rifles in Pavlov and thought I turned them back on before I left. Much to my dismay I came back the next day and they were still off :x ...lol :oops: . Much complaining was going on too...anyway.

AJAX,
Try this:
Connect to your server, open the WEAPONS CONTROL sub menu, and click on the Springfield box to set it to 'NO'.
Then, disconnect from the game, and then reconnect. As soon as you reconnect, open the WEAPONS CONTROL sub menu again. When you look at the Springfield setting, it should read "NO".
This is because that option checks the server's setting everytime you open the menu. It checks the scr_allow_springfield cvar to see if it's set at 0 or 1. If the server tells the HLC RCON weapon control menu the cvar is set at 0, then the Springfield menu option will read "NO". If the cvar is set to 1 (on), the the menu option will read "YES".
I did this so that you will know what each weapon is currently set at. Does this help?

Sounds to me like the tool is working properly. Once he turned off the gun..then came back the next day and it was still off. That's what is supposed to happen. The only thing not clear in his description is whether when he came back on if the gun was still marked "no" or not. If it was, then everything is as it should be. He turned it off.. it told the server.. the server turned it off and kept it off until he told it to turn it back on again.

Once I realized your post did not sound exactly like what I was seeing, I checked again and I was using version 3 not 3.1. So, I had the weapon control buttons that were either on or off not yes or no. Sorry for the confusion and my noobness...doh! Again profuse thanks for the help!

As of now, I don't think it's possible to do that. All HLCRcon really does is apply rcon commands using a nifty menu interface, or GUI if you will.
BTW, nice work, Moses. Just so you know, I'm helping Cyberdoc on AAN with the server's mod. In the process, I'm making some adjustments to HLC to add the AANR functions. Oh, and added support for 50 players. ;)

I think PB will allow for screenshots won't it? That's what I read anyway. I'm not that familiar with PB so not sure of all it's features. Anyway as the jerk said HLC does not perform this function and I don't see it doing it anytime soon.
Jerk.. what are the features you have added? What is AAN support?
