View Full Version : Messages taking long time to broadcast

Like the title says. It seems to be taking a long time for my messages to be broadcast to thru the server.

For instance, I have set up headshot announcements. The problem is it will seem to hold onto the messages and only send all of them every few minutes or so.

Is there something I am missing? Is there a time limit setup somewhere?

Not sure what info you need from me, but let me know and I'll provide.

Again- nice program.

I am connected to an external server via FTP. that might be the reason?

You might check and see what your g_logsync cvar is set to.
0=buffered writes
1=immediate writes.

It could be your log file is being buffered before being written.

where would I find that cvar?

You can find that in your server config (ie... server.cfg or dedicated.cfg).

oh... so I need to add that line to my server.cfg file?

Didn't catch that in any of the tutorials I have read so far. Probably overlooked it in my zealousness to get this program running.

Ok, I'll add that and report back with my results.

Thanks.

Oh, and BTW- Thanks Shadowbee, for the guide you put up that helped me get this started. Not sure if I said TY yet, so...TY.

yes i have to agree with bee here.
Sounds like the log is not logging at once things happens.

That you can allso see in the debug window for logfile.

If that is standing still for some time and then starts to write like hell a hole lot of lines.
ANd stops again and starts to write all at once again your logfile settings are wrong.

So that is a way to see allso.

I added that command line to my server.cfg file, and now it seems to write perfectly. As soon as somebody gets a head shot, boom... message "%playernick1% Had his brains blown out by %playernick2%

thanks.

you will first need to configure weapons and kill zones.

Then, under kill zone, I have head$ for the kill zone, HEAD, and under console message events, in the description field I have MOD_HEAD_SHOT
and for the weapons, I filter it one for each of the sniper rifles in the game, which matches the same name as the weapon ID I gave it back on the same page as the kill zone setups.

Honestly- I am not really sure how I got it to work, or even if I am doing it quite right. I tried to follow the same method for bash kills, and it don't seem to be working yet. More work.

Great program. I just added a chat reply for all those kids that like to come in and bitch about everything being GAY or Ghey...
