Does this work? What will the message be that is displayed? I would love to set this up on my server so when I am not on line Teamkillers will get the boot. If this don't work is there a program that will do this? Please no hugh mods just a kickin one. ;)

Is there a script or mod that would have an auto kick in it. I cannot always be on the server and was looking for something to keep the jerks at bay. Thanks, Butch

Ok if you have a seprate map rotation file for tdm.

What about having a multi game type?

Situation
We have an art of war server, I have set it to bas assult ctf sd in the config file. The first map goes fine. The second in rotation goes to a default deathmatch.
How can you do multiple gametypes in this rotation?

You will have to make sure that your maps (whatever they are) support the specific gametypes, though.

Thank you. That is what I had but the server company said you could only have one gametype. I know that is not right. I did find out what the problem was. They had an extra rotation in there that I had to take out.

Im running a linux COD server and can't remember how to actually get the cfg file to load.

do i just exec it in the autoexec.cgf file?
or do i use a argument passed to the executable?
like -> "./cod_lnxded --config dedicated.cfg"
thats a guess, i havent done this for over a year.

i dont have any cfg files in my server folders except the one i created.

the server starts and i can load a map and i can connect to it with my other computer and play on it but the config isnt the way i want it.

BTW i like the site :)

Im running a linux COD server and can't remember how to actually get the cfg file to load.
COD:
./cod_lnxded +set dedicated 2 +exec dedicated.cfg +map_rotate

UO:
./coduo_lnxded +set dedicated 2 +exec dedicated.cfg +map_rotate

You can also add the ip and port with "+set net_ip" and "+set net_port" and of course Punkbuster "+set sv_punkbuster 1"

Let me ask you guys a question

I create a shortcut for the CODUPMP.exe on my desktop and put this "E:\Call of Duty\CoDUOMP.exe" + exec rcon.cfg in the target location. And before i do this i put the rcon.cfg file in my root COD folder. Then i right click on the new short cut i created and the quotation marks are missing so when i try to use rcon it says bad password. Any ideas on how to get the quotation marks to stay in there?

Hmmm...I've never heard of the quotes going missing in a shortcut. Try manually editing the shortcut...right-click, choose Properties...then adding the quotes back in.

Try making another copy of the short cut from the actual exe, then move it to your desktop.

Then try editing the target patch.

Does using "set", "sets",or "seta" make any differance when making a config up?? For the most part all my prompts are "set" with a few "sets". I noticed all yours read "seta". Just Curious, Butch

Basicly(sp) they all do the same. Note seta will write the flag to a default.cfg file so if you for some reason remove a line in your cfg with a seta, it will still load via your default.cfg, see below:

set
Usage : rcon set [variable ] [ value ]
Sets the value of a variable.

seta
Usage : rcon seta [variable ] [ value ]
Sets the value of a variable and the archive flag so that the value will be saved to the user's Default.cfg file to be loaded each time the game is loaded.

sets
Usage : rcon sets [variable ] [ value ]
Sets the value of a variable and the server flag so that the variable is transmitted to clients upon connect.

So "set" used all the way when writing a config file is OK? Meaning using "set" will add the command and variable of the command you want. Example: set sv_maxping "150" and the command will be seen and used each time the server is started.

Are there any values of a variable that you feel should have "sets" or "seta" used rather than "set"?

It's been a while but check for missing pk3 files.

Is there a pak7.pk3 and localized_english_pak4.pk3?

If so it looks like your missing them

They are not there, but neither are they on my windows box in the main folder. I don't think they are being used. I could be wrong. But, I got it working and those missing files don't seem to affect it adversely. Thanks anyways.

what are the two a and b pk3 files, are they mods?

If so try removing them or moving them to a different dir and restart the game.

You have no map rotation in your server .cfg , or it is configured incorrectly,please post your dedicated.cfg, and we can check it out.

Well, there's a space after the last map name and before the ". You don't need the last line (even if you did, there's a space there as well), and I don't see a map_rotate...do you have a +map_rotate on your command line?

Hello,

I setup my server and install the AWE212 Mod. I wait for it to Load up but nothing happens :S so i login the Dedicated Server, and see this in the Console

ERROR: Unknown projectile explosion "smoke" in "flashgrenade_mp"

I Dont know what to do, Anyhelp would be great, really in need of resolving this problem ASAP.

No OldDog I did not have Map_Rotate on any command line and it seems to be running fine now other than I had to delete any of the mp_uo_maps from the rotation. I rented a UO server but for some reason I get "cannot find map" when I try to load a UO map. Errrgh frusterating bu tIll talk to my provider about that. Thanks for your help, DC

That "cannot find map" means that your map PK3 is in the wrong location. You should have a UO directory under Main...if its an actual UO map, then that's where it belongs.

AWE mod can be set to punish a user after a set amount of tk's. Punkbuster can be set to kick for a set negative score. Example: a player tk's twice and has a score of -2, pb will then kick the player for a -2 score.

Keep in mind this is the first time I have done this.

I just setup a LAN (yes LAN not WAN) gaming server. I wanted a place for my son and I to be able to play and invite others over and have LAN parties...

Anyways, I have loaded several FPS games on the server and read through alot of setup documentation on this site and others. One thing they all have in common is the *.cfg and the shortcut to actually configure and launch the dedicated server whether it be single map type or mixed.

Well to get to the problem, after setting up a *.cfg file and pointing my COD shortcut to it, I still cant get it to run. I saw where one of your replies (from MajorDay) indicated that "No map specified in sv_mapRotation - forcing map_restart** The problem lies here!". I have checked this and my *.cfg does have a sv_mapRotation and i have removed all maps that may not be COD maps or that are modified versions of the originals and it still will not run.

Please help, I have attached my *.cfg file and what the output looks like when I attempt a server start.

Me and my friend have a LOT trouble configuring and starting COD4 server to play among us, or a few friends.
First of all, we all have downloaded game (torrent, etc.). Which means we don't have a proper keycode.
What we need is to make a CRACKED server, which won't ask for key
(like this one on XFIRE there is a
Server Name LogosoftOnLine CoD4 TDM v1.4
Server IP 217.75.192.84:28963 )
on which we get in in a blink of an eye!
But, when I download dedicated.cfg from internet (i tried dozen .cfg-s!) I insert proper IP, i opened porth on HAUWEI router, and all that people say that we need to doo ...
And, when I double click shortcut (target line: "D:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\iw3mp.exe" +set dedicated 2 +set sv_punkbuster 0 +exec dedicated.cfg +map_rotate )

I tried to start MP on the SAME PC as the console and to go in "start new server" (dedicated: NO), and that is all ok. I enter the game, i run, shoot, jump...
BUT, when my friend starts game on his PC at home and type ~ and connect xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.:xxx, my ip and port, game starts connecting and we get "KEYCODE IN USE"!
NOW, the main question is: how to disable keycode check?? OR anything, that will allow him to enter the game!??
We tried to disable PB in services, and everything... on both PC's, still "keycode in use"...
ANY HELP???

I rented a UO server but for some reason I get "cannot find map" when I try to load a UO map. Errrgh frusterating bu tIll talk to my provider about that.

language.cfg is normal to error in english versions of the game as its only used in localized/foreign-language windows installs

autoexec_mp.cfg is a cvar-only (no commands like pb_sv_enable or map_rotate only sv_punkbuster and sv_maprotationcurrent etc.) which is what the game tries to exec FIRST after all of the hardcoded stuff (not dedicated.cfg as popularly believed) you can create autoexec_mp.cfg wherever fs_basegame cvar points and it'll be read as your sole config file (though you can still use the UOv1.51 map rotation's inbuilt exec and map_gametype.cfg functionality as well as calling configs from the startup commandline

if you "cannot find map" with UO maps make sure fs_basegame or/and fs_game point to where all of your *.pk3 files are located . . . to verify the files in question arn't being loaded use fs_referencedlist and fs_openedlist

also if you use g_gametype is the startup commandline and map_rotate as the final statement in your config then you can have an sv_maprotation with no gametype statements

paka.pk3 and pakb.pk3 are part of the game not mods and are required for pure servers, unsure about clients or unpure servers though
