In need of BIG help, MOHAA game is so messed up

Well, lets see, where to start.....

Ok, first, ive noticed lately that whenever im playing mohaa online, my ping will be always be at about 150-300, and im on a cable modem!!! Yes i got a router, but thats not the problem, its configured right, and i dunno if this matters since i dont host a server, but i do got port 12203 forwarded. BUT, i just realized that just a few days ago, when this stuff started, that i was on one of them broadband test sites or w/e and did a tweak to speed up my connection, I think maybe instead it made my connection worse, how can i fix that? I dont remember the site I was on either.
But do you think restarting/reseting my router would reset the settings? Cause it changed the settings in my registry (but u guyz probably know that lol)


Also another thing, this is probably related to my ping problem since I noticed this starting to happen around when my ping problem started, is while i play mohaa, I will watch the lagometer and my fps. I do got a crappy vid card (nvidia riva TNT) but my game has worked fine with it in the past. And I learned about how I could make my game a bit better using these 2 utilities in the game. I learned how to fix w/e problems with the packets and stuff. But my problem is I cant. Ill see that on the bottom line, whenever im like in big areas (like V2 where the rocket is or the bridge level too) the graph will show its droppin and losing packets all over the place. But somehow I managed that a bit bettter now, but im still gettin all this laginess really bad, so is this related to the ping?????????

Well, I did manage to kinda fix my prob, just reseted the router and redid the ip addresses, but still my ping isn't llike it used to be, itll be normally around 100-117, sometimes down to 80's...........

But I got another questiong about the variables........What does the variables PageMemory and low_anim_memory do?? I assume the low_anim_memory would lower the memory usage during animation? But what's pagememory do?

Oh, and one last thing, I downloaded PowerStrip so I could try overclocking my video card to try and improve my game since it will slow down a bit on the graphic cards part when im in big rooms playing MOHAA. And I know this could widely depend for an answer, but like what would be a good overclocking setting for my Riva TNT without taking much risk of damaging it?

there are many reasons why the ping may be so high,i went through the same thing with Cable access.
i wouldn't concentrate so much on the game but whats running behind it.
i posted this in our clan forums and it seemed to help more than a few people.
you should download and use everything in the download catagory,they all will help you.

Just found a site to host this file,it shuts down all programs that start with the computer,it will amaze you how much faster it starts.
just open and click on what progs you want off(i turn them all off),then click disable and ok,next time you start up they will not be running
Just remember,whatever programs are running when the computer is started are still running and sucking up valuable memory as you play online.(RAM)

Also,Unless you absolutely and without a doubt know what you are doing,never, (and i stress never) mess with your systems BIOS,it will kill your system quicker than shit.



I know there are a lot of sites here but all have helped me at one time or another,biggest thing is to DEFRAG before anything and do a SCAN,Click [Start] [Run] and type sfc /scannow in the [Open] box.
(Note that there is a space between sfc and /scannow)

Use Rambooster (links above) it frees up all the RAM that other programs hog,even after you have shut them down.

Use Startup COP,you will notice how much faster your computer starts up,turning off all applications works best,don't worry,they can be turned back on the same way you turned them off.

Spybot search and destroy,scan every day,link is above also.

Pop up stopper,always leave on.

Don't be afraid to go to the broadband reports and speedguide sites the tweaks will put you as close to possible to your upload and download speeds that you pay so much for.

If web pages load slow,check out monosteeles tweak post at http://forums.speedguide.net/showthread.php?t=73799 ,he tells you how to speed em up.

Also make sure all of your fans are dust free,i keep the side of my computer off for more airflow,it gets dirty fast and can not cool down like it's supposed to. A hot processor or power supply isn't good.


Anyway,this should keep you busy for awhile,hope it helped,and make sure you check all the sites out,all have something different you can try........

wow, lots of great site....but heres the thing. I have gone to most of these, but some of those downloads like rambooster, registry thingy, and a couple other ones, GREAT. Thanx.....ill check out this stuff.

But you know what one weird thing is? I haven't checked this thread ina while lol, but just a few days ago, i got rivatuner, overclocked my vid card by adding like 10 (mhz i think, or hz, w/e one) on both of the things, and put a lil fan i got so its blwoing air all over my inside computer, and i still get bad FPS on the game! Not exactly bad, its better, but not that great of improvement.
