For no special reason, I'm just curious if a lot of people are pre-paying.
I guess I'm just wondering with all this hype how long the copies will be staying on the shelf. If there is a lot reserved then they won't ever hit the self on the release date.

I ordered mine weeks ago. Getting the free sounds track that comes with it. Paiod a few buck extra to get next day delivery but I feel that it's worth it.

pre-pay for the game itself? $49.99 from Amazon.com. I selected the gimmie-the-damn-game-now shipping, so I forget what the total was. :|

Looks like I'll have it by the 30th. w00t! :!:

They'll direct ship to you from the manufacturer??? That would be great because I tried that once with GameStop/EB, but it turns out GameStop had to recieve it first then they shipped to me. It ended up taking a couple of extra days. I don't want to wait a couple of extra days.

I was # 259 on the list when I pre-registered a week and some ago. I checked the other day when I purchsed MaxPayne 2 (awesome game btw) and there was 347 people on the list; should be higher before the game comes out.

347 people ordering an $80 game (/me in Canada) = $27,760

Not too bad for 1st day sales :!:

Holy !@#$. That's just one store in one area. I wonder what PC game sold the most copies ever? Think CoD has a chance? If it's half as good as people are thinking it's gonna be, it probably has a chance. Maybe I'm getting carried away.

lol. I imagine it will be pretty hard to beat out hungry hungry hippos. Let's not forget about mouse trap too. I was never aloud to have that as a kid... to many parts for me to eat.

Well, I think CoD will do well, but it is a "small" market. This is targetted at FPS game players...and then a subset of FPS players who like the WWII setting vs. DOOM settings. EverQuest by Sony claimed to have 400,000 active user accounts at one time. Since EQ was online only, you can reasonably assume if Sony's info was correct that they sold over 400,000 copies of the game. Either way, EQ was a niche game for people who like fantasy RPG settings and were willing to pay $10 a month to play a game.

As for most popular games, I would think it would likely be "The Sims" series or some of the sports titles that EA releases. They appeal to a much broader market.

If one really wanted to delve into it, you could offer up FreeCell as the best selling game of all time. You "buy" it with EVERY copy of MS Windows since Windows 95...and maybe even before that. Fortunately, I was on Commodore Amiga's Workbench 3.0 OS prior to moving over to Wintel in 1997, thus avoiding the horror of Windows 3.x

Ah, you can't beat 3.1

I'm betting that my local games stores will have CoD in on schedule, and that there will be enough copies for me to just go in on the day and buy it. The main demand seems to be from those who played MoH and the others, as listed by Data. Yet how many people will want it enough to buy it on the day it is released. Not that many per store, per city...
