what are you using to open rez files?

Just added the makepack dos util from EAGames as well as a readme for the file. This is what you use to open rez files.
I would suggest using winzip to make your pk3 files, do not use winrar as it will cause problems. You can use pk3 files with rez files.

You may find it necessary to see what is in a game .rez file. Rez files can be opened with the MakePack utility, located in the MDK/bin folder. To get a list of all the files in a pack file run the following command line: “MakePack –m filename.rez”. To extract a specific file type “MakePack –x filename.rez file, where file is the name of the file to be extracted. To extract all of the files in a .rez file just type “MakePack filename.rez.
We will add all MDK tools to the editing section of our site once they are released.

There is no need to modify the rez files to add cfgs. If you put the cfgs into your PA Main folder it will read just fine. It works the same as the other MOH games, the server reads the files in the Main folder at startup.
I dont recommend messing with your rez files, if something goes wrong you may be in for a long reinstall. Also you will change the Checksum values on the rez files and could have trouble with PB or Server Pure.

changing a config file shouldnt harm anything in any way. If you choose to put them in the main (where they already should be) or if you edit them inside the rez file.

I probably wouldn't suggest you edit and repack any of the original rez files on a client machine though. This can cause problems trying to join servers with cheat protection measures enabled (pure, PB).

So we wont be able to add new maps and so forth? What kinda crap is that? Spending as much as we do for these games we should at least be able to edit configs add new maps and create new realisms. I understand the need for good cheat protection but damn.

Trauma cool your jets bro :D
You can add pk3 files to your main directory or even rez files for that matter. Just don't mess with the stock ones.
No different than MOHAA or CoD for that matter.

Right on. Same as COD and MOHAA. Any custom content can be added as either a pk3 file or a rez file.
PA is setup a little different in that it uses a "mod manager" which allows you to actually keep track of all the mods you have installed. They're stored in a specific directory, away from the game files.
And with regard to those cfg files... you can pull em out, modify them, and then either drop them back into main to exec them, or pack them in a pk3 file as a mod.
