Theory behind server ranking

Just want to hear your thoughts about servers showing earlier than others in the ingame moh browser.

I own serveral boxes with serveral 12 IPs per box, regardless of the fact that the set ups are the same some IPs show first and other and other IPs dont show in the gamebrowser.

I find minor succusss in creating a public.cfg file.

The ips that come up first have eventually become some of the top servers in MOHAA, at times we have 4 servers in the most populated servers in all of MOHAA. Only due to the reason they come up first.

Has anyone found any pattern to have their server show up sooner.

I always thought it was based on the ping rate. The lower, the sooner it would show up.

I'd be interested to see what you had in the public.cfg file.

Thats the first notion I had, but my rentme server had a 119 ping and my 124 server had a 200ping and my 124 came up first.

Funny thing was, that I set up my TDM to be on the 125 server but everyone played on the 124 so I switched it over cause of popularity

Your In Game browser is sorted by the columns. If you sort by ping, that is the order they come in. Not sure what the logic is for tiebreakers, but its probably name (maybe IP) or something else.

i have pinged my server from multiple locations,it usually runs about 45 and under,i have yet to see it less than 60-75 on Gamespy,not sure why there is such a big difference since it still usually runs near the top of Gamespys list...maybe they are pinging from China,hell the little yellow men own everything else,why not Gamespy? lol
would explain a lot.....
