Any clue on bandwidth requirements per player in CoD? I'm trying to get a couple servers set up and would like to know how much bandwidth to purchase.

Probably close to RTCW.

To be honest, that answer leaves me none the wiser - are you able to be a bit more specific at all? Cheers.

server rental companies will set prices on a per-man basis, based upon that usage.

The question was, how much bandwidth per player is expected in CoD. For instance in MOHAA the bandwidth requirements are about 22Kbps per player, in BF1942 bandwidth requirement is about 60Kbps per player...I'm just looking for a number if anyone has heard anything...anyone....anyone...Buhler?

To answer your question... Yes, it requires bandwidth.

No one knows the answer to this question because not many people know anything about the multiplayer aspect of the game. There is no MP demo so pre-launch testing was not an option.

I heard it was gonna be @ 30-32kbps  But as was stated we'll have to wait and see.

in mohaa I ran a 32 player server. When it was full it required 2 Mbits. So I'm guessing it should be close to that. (Depending on the maxrate n stuff)

I thought I read somewhere that they smoothed it out a bit, and as such, should require less per man than MOH.

Hello,
Upstream bandwidth requirements are a factor of the nmber of players (1-64), and the sv_maxrate which is appropriate. It's a bit of a black-art; balancing the server load to client requirements; but having run an RTCW server for about a year and a half, I have some useful values here:
RTCW plays well when set for sv_maxrate 8000 (8KBytes/sec = 64 kbits/sec).
Multiply this value by the number of slots (On a 32 player server, 64 Kbits x 32 slots = 2.04 Mbits/sec)
However, RTCW:ET plays best with an sv_maxrate of 10000; which would yeild 3.2 Megabits/sec on a 32 player server.
---------------------------
If you were to run a full-out server at 64 players, you would be looking at a sustained bandwidth of 6.4 Mbits/sec.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for that, your probably correct in what ya saying, but one thing is for sure, what ever the bandwidth of the game, it would be interesing to hear what prices people pay for renting a CoD server when it comes out

More directly:
100 Kilobits/sec per slot. (sv_maxrate 10000)

We will be monitoring our dedicated server for bandwidth and CPU utilization and then posting this info on a revolving basis.
We are hoping to get 2 32 player servers up and running before the weekend.
One server is production, open to the public
the other will be for testing, open to the public but you could see some Hiccups along the way. Testing admin tools, mods, maps and other stuff....

Any ideas as to what admin tools can be used yet?
