View Full Version : Correctly installing Maps on a windows server???

I need help with my server BAD!! I have installed some costum maps but they don't work. Every time they get to the new map it freeze's up. Can anybody explain how to install the custom maps correctly on a dedicated Windows server. I have FTP access and access to all files. HELP PLEASE!!!!

Ya I read that but I still don't get it. This is a server running from a server box not my home computer.

Assuming these are pak files completely different from the originals (not modded versions), I would first recommend that you turn your server off. Then upload to the main folder.
Make sure that you set the game type for those custom maps in your rotation as all maps don't work well with all gametypes. (depends who made them and how they were made)
Assuming the maps are configured properly and built well, you should not have any problems adding them.
If your server is crashing when it hits one of the said maps, try using a different game type, shuffle through all of the gametypes, make note of the gametypes that work, or if none of the game types work, I would bet the pak files are corrupt or made poorly.
Start with this, if everything fails, re-dwonload the files, zip and then FTP to your server. FTP can corrupt files during transfer sometimes, zipping them usually bypasses that issue.
