View Full Version : BT Demo hackers...
ok, i host a Breakthrough Demo server on occasion and this usually never happens, but someone came into the server tonight (it was just me and him), played a few minutes then somehow restarted the server on his own and left?
how is this possible and is there any way of preventing it (ie. tools, patches)?

omg, same thing happened today... and i think it was the same guy with a different IP too! (his s/n was almost identical)
can ANYONE please help me with this dilemma??? is there a BT Demo Patch available somewhere?
anyway, i consider this a very serious problem... i'd like to know how it's being done and how to stop or prevent it?!

i can't believe this BS... EA creates a completely unalterable demo with an rcon bug (ability for clients to restart server) to go with it
i for one am deeply frustrated/upset that EA has yet to address this serious problem... some people and their mothers :rolleyes:

I can't believe you seriously think they will support a demo when they are no longer supporting the full retail. The demo died the moment sales for the retail started rolling in. The fix for the retail on the restart bug came from the user community, not EA. When I remember first reading about that bug in these forums for the full retail, it was already past the point of EA providing support.
Its a business. People that want to keep paying their own bills don't provide unlimited support for free even for the retail games, let alone the freebie demos.

ok, i understand what you're saying, but EA released an official patch for the Spearhead Demo... why not for the BT demo pray tell?
that maprestart problem is a bugger of a bug... i just hope somebody, anybody can release a fix/patch for it
that is all i wish... is it asking for too much? i don't think so...

Yes it is asking for too much. Perhaps they could put their new game devolpment on the back burner for a few more months, just so a few people who have the free demo version won't be bothered with a glitch in the game.
It was designed to peak your interest to make you buy the game. Then you would get free support for the full version. I don't think EA is out of line at all with not offering any patch, they want you to buy the game from them. It may even be an extra incentive placed in there and leaked by them so you do buy the game.

Thing is. The Spearhead Demo patch still doesn't stop the servers from reloading either.The only real solution to this problem is to kick and ban. Unfortunately.
is there any way to see who is the one that is entering the code.....if there is then there is no need for a fix the only reason why i want it is becouse there is no way to see who is doing the restarting that i know of.... is there any mods that stop the restarting in the full vers or is only a patch that can do it

I got this reloadmap fix for mohaa (BT) demo from my parnter (we admin both bt demo 32 player {nazi} servers) just a few days ago 7/26/04. He told me it was made for him by a friend? I dunno who takes credit but,
IT WORKS!
No more little pricks coming into your server saying they're hackers and restarting your games, those days are over!!!
What you need to do is download this small 2,500 kb gamex86.dll file (make sure you unzip it) and all I did was right clicked it, copied it, then went to my bt demott folder and pasted it. It will ask if you want to replace the original gamex86.dll file that is there,,, the answer of course is yes.
and your problem is solved! This is in my home version server and both dedicated server games, and works perfectly.
I am changing webhosts this week, if by some chance this download gets lost is cyberspace, or you don't make it back to this thread for a while, I will post it on a new download page at my site at: www.nazigotlead.com (http://www.nazigotlead.com)

hahaha I know what you mean about not logging on for a while,,,I have 3 email addresses and 100 more through my website that I dont even use,, and I finally saw that you had responded to this thread almost 2 weeks later,, :D
The reason those links were no good was because my domain name was switched to another host for 2 days,,, and then back again cuz new hosting sucked! CATALOG.com rules!!! they stream my videos at kick arse speeds...
