Server Admin as a spec in game!!

Hi All

im a total noob to COD Server Admin .
and any info on the below question,s would be gratefull :)

we are currently running a cod server , our host only allows a 10 player spot .
the info im needing is if the server is FULL and i wish to spec the players ingame i cannot join as i get the "SERVER IS FULL"

the server currently host other games we have installed on it IE :UT and UT2003 .

in those games we have 10/10 player and a 2 spectators slots allowing us to spec .
but with cod i only see the option to set 10 players and nowhere for the admin spec mode .

is there a command thru /rcon with the server pass for me to enter as a spec ?

In your other server you most likely have 12 person slots.. 10 player and 2 reserved. You can do this with CoD. it's called privateclients. If your total slots is only 10 though.. you would have to make 1-2 of those 10 your private slots. Say you had 2 private slots.. then that means only 8 could normally join.. the other two would be reserverved for those that have the password. If you want to run a 10 person server with 2 private slots.. that would really be a 12 slot server.

so as i undstand it the config shud now look like this

// General Settings
set scr_friendlyfire "1"
set sv_maxClients "12"
set sv_privateClients "2"

and if this is right and the server is full and i want to join would i just go to join server but with the server pass in the password box or enter a recon command?

Highlight your server and then press the password button, enter the pass and you should be good to go.

but now i got our host saying we cannot have it set to 12 slots

5/5 team and 2 specs as he said with cod it doesnt allow specs like unreal does . as he said if it,s 5/5 and i join as an admin spec he said i could still join in the game play .

for one this wouldnt be very fair 5v6 only other i could do it get an admin server tools that shows you the actual ingame chat .

I don't know of any out-of-game apps that will allow you to see the ingame chat. Your best options are to run 4-4 matches with two spectators or upgrade your server slots to 12. :smile:

Yes exactly.. 4x4 with two slots (TWL has 4x4 ladders) or upgrade to 12 slots. I have heard that serverwatch lets you see in game chat although I could not get it to work since it only seems to work on linux servers, so I am not for sure. There is a server watch forum on this site down a bit. Just go there and Cobra or someone will verify it. But if you got a windows server.. forget it.

I'm not aware of any other app that will but I'm sure one will be developed before long.
