Can I upload an image of Cod to my win2kserver and using my key use the image on a virtual drive to run a dedicated server and play on the server as well?

I have searched for a windows based server only prog similar to the one bf1942 has and came up empty of course that would solve the problem but i just can't find one...


please help..

I run a dedicated server and play on it at the same time. The way i did that was to just start a dedicated server,minimize it and then start the game in MP mode and log in to my server. I did not use a separate installation on another drive because i had no need to,it works just fine anyway.
I have had it that way for about a week and half now and i have not heard about or noticed any lag-issues or such when doing so even tho i have had 20 players in there at times.

The system i run this on is a 2Ghz P4 1024mb ddr-ram on a 10Mbit uplink.

There is not always alot of ppl in there but hopefully there will be enough for you to get a idea about how it runs.
I didīnt see any information about where you are located so plz bear in mind that if you are in the US or Canada you might get some lag considering the server is based in the middle of Sweden.

In conclusion,this way of doing it should work if you have a powerfull enough machine and uplink.

actually I should have been more clearer...I have a leased server from a company that I need to put COD on ... I need to know if I need an image file? Or is their a dedicated server only prog for it for win2k?

Ok...Canīt help you there,sorry. I hope someine else can help you out...after all iīm just a no skill n00b when it comes to server setups. :P

I imaged my licensed copy w/Clone CD and uploaded it to the server. I installed it from the image, no probs whatsoever. Get w/me on ICQ (158060740)if you need my help. I can be reached via e-mail at teambsr@cox.net.

Yes you can just upload your gamefolder up to the Server host and it will work
It is no need to install it in the server.
Just send your hole folder with the game in to the server.

And your key.....
Take it out before you send it up.
It is no need for a key to run a server

Multiplayer server does not require a CD key.
