View Full Version : Spawn Rapers any ideas...
I am not sure if any one else has this, but there seems to be qiute
a few guy's spawn raping on our server... I know that every game there is that problem, but i want to know is there any way or a mod
that can give the guy's god mode for a few seconds so they have a chance to fight back... :?:

There are mods that do this. What do you mean by spawn raping?
Spawn Raping... When you get people that camp near an area where the oposition side spawns / starts off and assoon as they do
they get killed and a circle starts unless they manage to get away.
If you know of a mod that can help please tell me where i may find it.

set sv_invulnerabletime "3" // invulnerable time after respawn
While I agre with the sentiment about fighting your way to the other side in reality if there is no invulnerabilty after spawning theres 0 chance of making a comeback. Spawn/*sniped*/spawn/*sniped*/spawn/*MGed* etc..

Alternately, If you follow the reasonably simple instructions over at modtheater.com to spawn objects into your maps, you could write a server-side script to spawn a big truck and some boxes in front of the spawn points or the sniper points. That would make it a bit harder to rape, rape, rape. :twisted:
I have also toyed with spawning (in MOH) aerial bombs on the favorite sniper spots just to make them harder to hang-on to for the duration. :!:
But like I said....your players need to think a bit more about the strategy of keeping these favorite spots from falling to the enemy! :wink:

Check out the new "Reinforced SD Mod". Has the feature you're requesting:

Fantastic addition. Has an anti-spawn camping feature (ie settable invulnerabiluty time), and allows "reinforcement" waves a la RTCW.

Don't play TDM.
Run a mix of S&D and RE maps. you will attract a higher caliber of player, both in skill and maturity. just my 2 cents.
TDM is for kids.

Wow Heinz way to insult a heck of alot of people out there including me... We have a tdm and a SD server...
Smart move.
Actually we have set the roation so that all team games get played
but we set it as for example...
1. TDM = 1 round
2. BEL = 3 rounds
3. S&D = 2 rounds.
And so on... It just gives a nice mixture and the most popular ones
get more than the others... :smile:

TDM is for kids.
And S&D is for those "adults" that like to sit and watch the last two guys camp out for one another. Staring at that doorway or corner each guy is camping for five minutes sure is heart-pounding excitement! :smile:
Seriously, all the game types can and do suffer from immature players, and all game types have their fair share of skilled/n00b players. How a server is run and how closely it's administered has everything to do with the types of players (mature vs. morons) that are attracted, not the game type. Insulting people for their preference in game type is bad form, and frankly doesn't reflect terribly well on your own maturity level.

getting back to the spawn rape situation, the comments made are all valid arguements. But I feel that with *MOST maps the spawn situations aren't as bad as everyone makes them out to be. As stated above, it's a reward..... a reward for teamwork and coordination. In a map such as Brecourt, if you coordinate an assualt and work together, it is very simple to set up a spawn rape in the NE corner of the map... but on the other hand it is simple to get out of it as well. Far too many times I have seen a player respawning from a distance and just sit there like an idiot waiting to be shot, go prone and crawl out of the situation. In the future, smoke grenades might help as they did in Spearhead but it's up to the player to find his way out of something he got himself into in the first place.
*I say MOST maps because there are occasions where the enemy is literally spawning right on top of you.... that still needs to be worked out.
Remember these are stock maps, and as the talented mappers are still preparing for their initial COD releases, they know this...hopefully..... and will take the spawn feedback into consideration when placing spawn points and regions.
And now getting to the TDM remark.... saying TDM is for kids is like someone telling you GAMING is for kids...... you are wrong.

Except that the objects you spawn aren't solid so people can just shoot through them and you have people running through trucks...

Sorry to disagree but some objects do have a playerclip. That is how many MOH MP maps have been modded to include sandbags, boxes, etc. You're right about vehicles in general. The models don't always have playerclip. If you want to script a Solid Flour Sack in MOH server-side here's what you do:

I remember MC clan's, Hammer created a mod for that as well similer to the one posted above. It seems that IW didn't activate alot of the Cvars or code them right. Such as ban cvars and inactivespectate and inactivekick etc. Hopefully in the patch some of these will be active again like Moh.

Could be UnDead. As I said I don't have my server up so I can't test this CVAR. I read a post here or elsewhere that it did work.
Or maybe I'm just KWAZY!
