Hi
I wanted to test a dedicated server off my machine running XP but it will not list the server and no one can join by IP. I also have an 800MHz running with Win 98 and I have no problem getting it to be viewed. I have all the same ports open and DMZ mode enabled for both machines. The Win XP server will not allow it to be viewed. I have disabled the Win XP firewall and also disabled the anti-virus software I am running. What I am thinking is one of windows services is stopping the game from broadcasting out or allowing others in. IS this the problem or do you know what is stopping it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I tried many times and the Win 98 machine runs a listed server every time yet the Win XP machine never does. Both connect to the internet fine and both will play mohaa/Spearhead/Breakthrough listed games. When I set up the Win 98 machine as a server my XP machine can connect to it through the LAN or through the internet. When I set up my XP machine as the server my Win 98 machine CANNOT connect to it by LAN or by the internet. I don't get it! I have been changing all the port settings for the 2 different IPs each time I've tried them including the DMZ. IS this that rare? It must be something really dumb on the XP machine stopping it. Does anyone know?

If your on the same side of the LAN you shouldnt need any ports or DMZ turned on, make sure on your XP machine that you do not have that lame no good XP firewall activated... If its already off, then I dont kno what to say.. Try reinstalling.. I had to reinstall it on our server which runs on Win2003 Server before it started to list.

well I figured out the problem.......In services there was another firewall installed with my virus scanner.....Once disabled everything worked.
