View Full Version : SH textures left out of BT???

Doing some testing last night, I was loading up some of our favorite Spearhead custom maps (thunder2, Streets of Stalingrad 1, Gun Assault, etc) in Breakthrough and lo and behold there are missing textures everywhere. This is somewhat of a rhetorical question/rant (unless any EA guys want to chime in), but why in the hell would EA leave SH textures out of BT, thus cutting off at the knees many of the custom maps created using SH-unique textures?? EA made sure to make all the stock SH map textures work, but is it really that hard to include 100% of the SH textures and then throw on top of that BT-unique textures? I guess I could go through the work of making a custom SH texture pk3 file to throw in /maintt, but it's just stupid that I should have to do this.

Yet another straw on the back of the EA camel. This will just about seal the fate of our considerations of cranking up a BT server if we can't run a large number of our fav custom SH maps due to this problem.

We had/have the same problem with AA custom maps being run in SH servers.....so this isn't a new problem, though it should have been adressed and corrected for BT.

Hmm, we've never had problems with AA textures in our SH servers, and we run almost exclusively custom maps for both AA and SH. SH and BT load up all the stuff in /main, so I'm not sure I understand how AA textures could be missing. But since BT and SH don't know anything about each other, it's easy to understand how that would happen. Anything SH-related I had to copy over to maintt, but I left all my AA maps/mods in /main and those all seemed to work fine as with SH.

This is because there was simply not enough disk space to put everything in. Very sorry about this.

Hmm, maybe if some of those lead in vids were ditched there would be more room! :D

OK, is there a way EA could put together a pk3 file for download containing all the missing SH textures?It should be easy enough for you guys to diff the labels in your revision control system to get the file listing. That would save all of us a lot of trouble.

is there a way you could detail what textures are missing? then someone from the mod community could put a patch up for it, it shouldnt be that hard....

I could do it myself if I really felt motivated to do so (I don't). The point is, none of us should have to do this. EA could easily determine which textures were not included and make available for download a pk3 that is comprehensive of all missing textures.

So far about 1/2 of the SH maps I've tried are missing textures. Streets of Stalingrad 1 and 2, Gun Assault, Thunder II, and TractorWorks 2 are all missing textures.

St. Lo and Renan works just fine on my server.

That's because those are AA maps (and textures), not Spearhead.
