Hi,
I have a server set up on my comp...Linksys router for the network and cable gateway.
I opened the computer up via DMZ, and changed to a static IP.
The server shows up on GameSpy, and people can join, but after a few seconds to a minute the server disconnects them.
They have gotten one of two messages, the most common being the first:
CL_ParsePacketEntities: end of message
CL_ParseServerMessage: bad command byte: 0
Does anyone know what is causing this? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. If you need more info let me know.
Regards,

I get this CONSTANTLY with MOHAA and breakthrough. Also one of my clan members does too. We both have AMD comupters and old keyboards.. This only happends to us when we do a lot a key combinations at a time, typing, or playing. I heard a while back AMD processors had keyboard issues but I dont know if that has been fixed or if the crashing in MOHAA has anything to do with the keyboards itself or the AMD chips.
I did not alwasy get this though.. It seems to happen in waves.. I can go for serveral months without getting on our server, then have it happen every 5 minutes.
I have unplugged my router and seen the problem go away for a couple hours, but then again, I have had this router before MOHAA even came out and it didnt do it right away.
Im not sure why it does this but it is really really annoying.
There are two of these errors that I get. The one you posted, and I also get one that happends a lot moreoften that says Lost Reliable commands.
This happends with mods, without mods, even on breakthrough they rigged it so you cant put any other pk3s or it says corrupt demo when you start it up.

Hi CFH
Thanks for the reply...it is strange - my machine is a brand new Dell with 2.6 P4 and 1 gig of RAM, 128 mb 5200 vid card. I do use a Logitech keyboard, but I have played on tons of other servers with no problems at all with other games...only when I try to run a server.
I have not gotten any server - AA demo and full, SH demo and full, or BT demo - to keep people in for more than a minute or so before it kicks them. It is making me completely nuts.
If anybody has a solution to this problem I will be indebted to them!
Thanks again,

It sounds to me like a problem with your network setup.
Read this thread: http://www.mohadmin.com/nuke/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=13427&highlight=#13427
The router should be setup to Port Forward the correct ports. If you have Static Routes set, the packets will only go to one machine at a time. If you try to connect from the same network the server will lose connection.

I dont think it is a port forwarding problem. I have forworded the port to my comp and I still got disconnected from our server several time for the same reason.
Also i have been using this router for a long time and never had any trouble then out of the blue MOHAA starts doing this. I suppose it could be but im not sure..
I have a linksys router set to defaults(which it has been since day 1) and using Firmware version 1.45.6, Jun 24 2003. I dont recall if it has only done it with this version or not, but I am looking for an upgrade or downgrade and Ill see if this clears it up. Cua like i said, I have been using this router for a long time, before the MOHAA demo came out, and never had a problem until recently.
BTW I am using the nForec 2 motherboad witht he onboard NIC and latest nvidia drivers, which is the same setup my clanmate has and is getting the same issue, I supposed this can be another factor if it is network related.

I downgraded my routers firmware to the next one down which was dated decemeber of 02 and I played for about 2 hours and I did not get kicked.
Maybe try and update or downgrade your routers and see what happeneds.. Mine seems to be fixed.

Thanks for the replies - I am running the firmware 1.45.6 I am going to try and go backwards and see if it works - maybe there is some stupid thing in there that is doing this - i think I have tried everything else with no results.
Thanks again,

Thanks for all the info - I downgraded the router firmware to the previous version and now it works like a charm.
If you have a Linksys router and you want to run a server I would not use 1.45.6 - lots of headaches! I set all the settings exactly the same with the 1.44.2z firmware it is works flawlessly.
Thanks again for all your help.

I am alittle late on this chime in but, I also run a linksys router and when I game and set DMZ host to my gaming computers ip, aka 192.168.1.225 (for example) I have all kinds of problem with data being lost with constant streams. Such as constant streams of date that Multiplayer gaming and server hosting uses. Its really like when you set it to DMZ host Linksys doesn't know how to do DMZ just right and its opening and closing ports at random. Turned off DMZ host and it works fine. I use port forwarding now and set dmz back to 192.168.1.0 and all works fine.
I just don't think DMZ and Linksys go well together, but then again I have a friend that swears he runs DMZ host all the time on his linksys 4 port with no problems. Maybe its a group of bad chips they sent out who knows. I am running the most current firmware, now I am really thinking of going back to the very first firmware I got with router.

Well to clarify, I wasnt trying to host I was just trying to play and I do not have any ports forwaded or the DMZ setup. Forwarding them and setting up the DMZ didn't fix any of my probs, but when I unplugged the router and went straight into my modem it seemed to work a while back.
As for linksys behind dmz, we had our sever hosted at one of our members house on a 10mbit fiber optic connection and it fried 2 high end linksys routers. They are great for home use but not as good for hosting servers I suppose.

If you do a search on google for the error CL_ParsePacketEntities: you will see that almost all of there errors have to do with using a no-cd patch with Jedi Knight 2.
I would make a guess that the error is due to the same reason.
Are the people getting kicking using a legit copy?
