LAME-ASS-CHEATING-PUSS(@$..........
Anyone know anything about anti-cheat for COD????????
WHere there's a will there's a way. Most MOH servers were able to deal with cheaters OK, so I'm hoping that the same can be done with Call Of Duty.

Unfortunately if this game is as popular as we all think it will be, there will be cheats for it.
I just hope IW/Activision will keep up to date with the patches to counter this kind of stuff.
Please PM the link to me so I can forward it off to my contacts at Activision and IW.

I have all but had it with MOH. I love the game, but can NOT take the cheating anymore. :x It just hit me the other day that I'm not having fun anymore. The only time I can play is when I'm with a handful of my buddies on our own server. :!: I need COD to come out. I need to have fun again.
Hey Jasper, I'm just over the bridge in south Jersey. Cherry Hill.
How 'bout them birds! :x
What server are you playing on. Play on servers running anti-cheat programs and you should be subjected to much cheating...

I do try to. I'll run them on my server too, but they'll still get in. I usually run Crow's auto-kick and have tried Delator. What is the next best program out there? The wall hack, zoom, and no recoil hacks get right past delator. Back to the original post, they can't stop the OpenGL hacks.

Unfortunately EA's non existent approach to assisting in anticheat efforts meant the community had to do it and was a bit late in getting started, but eventually some great things were created. Now, I'm sure some of those will be easily ported over to CoD. That on top of what has already been built into the game should go a long way in detering some cheaters..obviously those determined to cheat will always find away.

1st-Checkout AllaboutNothing.Net for cheat free (as much as is humanly possible) MOH:SH/BT and soon to-be CoD servers. The MOH servers are actively admined and are no BS servers.
2nd- I used to live in Cherry Hill, oh, 25 yrs ago. Behind or in Barclay Farms.
I've heard word of a couple of MOH anti-cheat creators who will be working to port their programs over to COD. Nothing confirmed as yet so I'll not mention any names.

I have not seen any posts on this so I thought I might mention it. There is a "demo" feature in the game..... Here is how it works as far as I am told... Admins request a demo from a player.... it takes in game video of the rquested players screen... U see what they see. So, if they are using bright skins, landshark, wall hack and so on... you will be able to see it. I have read that the files will be very small and should not lag out the server too much. If this was posted before sorry for the double post
Hope to see you all in our LINUX server

I haven't read anything about that. I'll have to look around. It sounds like it could be useful IF it's something that can be forced by an admin. Otherwise, If you were asked you could just disable your cheat before you allow a "demo". I would have no problem running some kind of a client side program that would allow this if I knew everyone else was. It would be well worth it to be snooped on every once and a while to know that I was on a server with no cheaters.

I am trying to find the link that told me about this (will post as soon as I find it). But, I think it had to be requested from the player so u r right they could just shut down thier cheat. If they refuse the demo you can set the server to kick or ban them if I remeber correctly..... I guess I will go track down that link brb

That's true. You could kick them if they refuse. I guess the problem there is... if they refuse they look guilty... if they accept and nothing is wrong they look innocent, but what if they disabled their cheats first. I don't know, regardless it's a step in the right direction.

It still comes down to the fact that the cheaters use the cheats to gain an advantage. That advantage is what gives them away. There are programs that will pick up on the garden variety cheats but not the GL hacks or the skins. In mohaa we have had to learn to distinguish the cheater by his actions, in CoD we will have to do the same. Your only hope of a cheat free environment is either to play on a server that you know is being administerd by experienced admins or to play on a closed server.
The cheaters will always be there, we just have to learn to look for the clues and then get rid of them. As I understand it CoD will have a CD key that can be banned as well as the IP address, that will make life a lot easier, we won't have to go through the hassle of banning an entire string to get rid of some dink with a dial up. I for one will be happily migrating my 2000+ IP banned list from mohaa to CoD...they cheated on my mohaa server they can play elsewhere in CoD.

As CoD will be using much of the same technology & rendering engine as Return to Castle Wolfenstein; it wouldn't be too much of a leap to conclude that CoD will be using PunkBuster as it's main anti-cheat system; the same as Activision's other titles.
RTCW supports a unique "GUID" system, which is calculated based upon the user's CD key. If someone is banned on an RTCW server, it is done by the GUID, and not by the IP address. Since all CD keys/GUIDs are checked against a master database of all "sold" CD keys, (ie a key generator will pass the initial CD install test, but will not be found in Activision's Database of actual CD keys generated for the retail copies), banning by this method has proven very effective.
Having run an RTCW server for 1.5 years; the only recourse a person caught cheating (and banned via Punkbuster GUID) would be to purchase a new copy of the game. Since the cheater is now "out of pocket"; his cheating behaviour can get costly ($$$) should he decide to do it again.
Anyone young enough/foolish enough to do this, will find that "Mommy and Daddy won't buy me a new copy of the game"; since the Parents will not understand why they need to fork out yet another $50 for Johnny.
(My apologies if I make the assumption that "kids" are the ones more likely to cheat. The Majority of the players on our RTCW servers were 25-40 years old; and all abhor cheating, so I can only speak from our own experience).
The RTCW GUID based system worked remarkably well to keep spammers/cheaters/people-who-call-reset-votes-when-their-team-is-about-to-lose out of the server; and keep them out permanently.
Experienced Admins will find this system to be very effective at controlling access, and providing a great gaming experience.

Watching how people play is the best way to notice possible cheats. I can think of times in MOH where I would see people running into walls all over the map. Not just bumping into one and turning around, but it would look like they were trying to force their way through. In one case I was standing behind a wall and I noticed someone shooting at the outside of it. I could tell because a round would occasionally come through a nearby window. There was no way he could have seen me through the window because of the angle we were on. He just didn't pick up on the wall between us. And... what I think is worse than a wall hack... no recoil coupled with a zoom. People that can use their SMG as a sniper rifle from across the map. Sometimes you just know when someone can hit you while your moving with 3 or 4 rounds in a row from across the map with an SMG consistently... something is wrong. I just started noticing these things sooo much over the past few months playing MOH I finally got sick of it. It seemed like it got 10 X's worse recently. I got sick of playing with all the cheating. I don't enjoy it anymore.

I think all of us on here agree that cheaters SUCK. But, it will always happen. I know my Clan is clean and I know of a few other clans that are clean, but then again I know of a few clans that promote cheating and hacking servers. And I agree with both of you... having ACTIVE "AWARE" ADMINS is critical to a cheat free server. We pride ourselves on having 12 admins per game in our clan. We almost always have an Admin in the server. And if not, this is how we work it. All of our clan has icq and alll of the admins not in a game but around the computer are asked to have it on... in case of a problem. It is a good idea to educate your clan members too.... but remember don't let the members enforce the rules, you need to have structure in your server !!!

Well if it has PB life will be very good.
PB, unlike many other anti-cheat proggies, does not even allow a person to join a server if he was ban. It checks first, then lets you in the server, if you were banned, tou get a nice little msg. Previous ban.
Not like a few AC that allow the player to join, then check.

cheaters will always find there way around the system. unfortunatly for us guys who are out here having fun in the game. the best anti-cheat is teamwork. i just have learned to deal with it due to the overwhelming amount of cheaters and cheats passed around for spearhead.
