WARNING!! DO NOT USE THIS HOST!!!
(yes I know this isn't exactly the place to post this, but I need to get the word out)
For the last few months my clan has been in hell. Why you ask? Simple really, as the rule of thumb goes, "you get what you paid for." In our case we didn't even get that. This "company" consists of a guy...most likely 19, who runs his business out of his bedroom and rents servers in another state. He's in Pennsylvania and the servers are in Texas.....
To start with I had to help this guy set the server up, a Linux server which I know nothing about (first warning sign)....he didn't have the CD's to install the game. He "lent them" to a friend.....(yes another warning sign).
It took him 2 weeks to get the servers, AA and SH, up and and running. Each step required our help. When we were in the process of setting up the server he was attentive and responded quickly. Once we started the servers he would take hours, sometimes a whole day to respond.
He ran our servers off of one IP for a month...on different ports.....naturally this doesn't work, but it took us a month of debating with him before he understood this.
The servers are unstable and have not been stable for more than a week at a time before a new problem occurs. One of the problems was he was running, at a minimum, 10 different services on each server. This wouldn't be as much of a problem if it wasn't for the fact that he was running a celeron processor on the server....1.3 with 512mb's.
Over the last and final torturouse month he went on vacation and failed to tell anyone. He left his "brother" in charge.....I am guessing he was a 16 year old kid who was too busy downloading porn to notice at least two of the servers went to hell. All the while we are messaging our host for tech support.
The list goes on and on with all the problems we had with this host....our main problem was all the hosts out there with good prices were full. We took on this host in part because of the prices...well price is everything right?
We didn't get what we paid for, we were never credited for the time the server was unplayable, and now the servers have been shut down with no reason why.
So be warned, if you want to get ripped off and taken for a ride, this is the host for you. Yes I have been harsh, yes we should have moved sooner, but this was supposedly a "new" company so we tried to ride out the storm...the problem is this guy has been around for awhile apparently and just takes peoples money and fails to give them anything close to what they are paying for.
I have been more than cordial to this guy, Waylon, or as we have grown to call him, Waytlong..(wait long). So yes this may be looked at as a "flame" but in truth its a warning to everyone out there.
