Need Major Help Setting Up MoH on Remote Server

I have access to a amd 2100 Athalon 1Gb RAM and a 60GB HD running win 2k server.

I have set dedicated MoH servers in the past but never on a remote server.

I am assuming I have to upload the 2 installation discs for MoH to that server and install the game on it?

Do I need to have Direct X installed on the server also?

Any detailed information any can give me to help get this set up would be appreciated.

Zelathor to the rescue!!!!


There are lots of ways u can install the software. U can convert your CD´s to ISO images and upload them via FTP. Then u have to install the same software u used to convert them, create a virtual drive, and insert ISO images in the virtual drive. I used CloneCD, and to be honest, Wink2 doesn´t like it very well. Had some problems when installing..... If u try this method, try VirtualCD.

Another way is to copy both cd files to a directory on your hard drive. If u want to zip them or not is up to you. Send them to your server via ftp(or remote application like PCAnywhere or Netop) and then (unzip if needed and) run setup from there. By this way u don´t have to install virtual drives on server and reboot etc....


If u install like this or by virtual drives process, remember that u have to upload 1.11 patch and run it from there, just like u did on your computer.



There is another way to install........ U can upload to the server the already installed Mohaa u have on your hard drive. Just send the whole Mohaa directory where Medal is installed. By this way u will immediately have all the configs u have on your computer on the server, including patches. There is a disadvantage. Since it´s not the Mohaa installer that installs the game, there will be no registry entries of the game on Windows. Future patches and upgrades will not detect mohaa on your server, and will not install.




U don´t need Directx. U are not gonna play. I have even deleted the mohaa.exe file from my server so I can´t run it by mistake. The only file you need to run is mohaa_server.exe.
