Speaking To Players Through Console??? NEED HELP!!!

I read in one of the admin for MOHAA SH that you can speak to players thru console. I've tested this and everytime I do instead of it saying

example: type: rcon say Please don't camp

It should cause - console: Please don't camp

Instead, It will say

Condor: Please don't camp

The whole idea is for others not to know who the admin is, in this case, me. I've tried it with putting what I want to say in quotes and not in quotes.

Any idea on what I'm doing wrong? I'm using autokick and everything else seems to work fine.

Sounds to me like you are using the Chat window, not the console. If you read the top of the window it will either say Console or Chat.
You need to open Spearhead, go to Options>Advanced and check the box for Console.

I did checked it and I am using console. The top of the window reads "MOHAA Console"

Maybe there is something else that I am missing? Everything else that I use rcon for works just that feature doesn't seem to be working fine. Please Help!

Is this a Dedicated server?
Can you do say commands thru Autokick?

I am testing Autokick and it's features. I am not running it as Dedicated. So, I'm not sure why when I type why my game name shows and not "Console"

I believe that the only way it will show Concole is when its in Dedicated mode.

Not according to the instructions. I got them from here, somewhere on this forum. It reads:

Sometimes, folks will be causing trouble and, while you don't want to kick them, you may wnat to let them know you're the admin. One way to do this is to use the console to chat with players. When you do this, your in game name does not show up in the chat window. Instead, it says, "console." Only someone with the rcon password can do this.

To speak through the console, use the say command. For example, typing the following into the console:

rcon say Please don't sit on the spawn and rape - that is not allowed!

would cause, "console: Please don't sit on the spawn and rape - that is not allowed!" to come up in the chat where everyone (dead or alive) can see it.

The Guide you are quoting from states:
While much of the info in this guide also applies to non-dedicated servers, they will not be covered here.
As stated earlier, it wont show as coming from "Console" in non-dedicated mode (because its really coming from YOU in that case, there is no separate Console).
You can very simply run a dedicated server and have what you want . Follow the instructions in the guide, there are sample configs in the Guides section, its very easy to do.

So lets say for example, if I rent a server (which I'm going to do) and I'm playing a game and want to speak to a player without him knowing I'm the admin. it will show up as "console" and not my game name?

If that being the case, is that why when I host a game now (no server rented) with my computer (I'm doing this to test Autokick features before committing to renting a server) I see my game name instead of console?

Try putting this in the console:

rcon sv_say Oh behave!

(substitute other phrases if Austin Powers doesn't suit your mood) ;)

just always use say and then your text!!

Heh, maybe I got confused with Elite Force (I know one of them uses sv_say). I rarely bother to talk through console. I just tell them I am admin and kick em if they don't listen. ;)

this is probably a dead thread but you need to enable console first,if not then it will go staright on the server to all.
also,you need to be admin,you cannot go onto a server just use console.
