I downloaded SpearRunner.exe and installed it, but neither it nor MOHAA Runner have help files in them. Can anyone tell me how to use it? It has a great GUI for setting up a game, but once the parameters are set, what next? Do I save it out as some kind of config file for Spearhead to use, or do I leave it up running and then fire up the server?

Any brief help you can give would be appreciated, or point me to a hyperlink. Thanks.

Haven't tried it, but if its like EF Runner, there is an option/button to launch your server. The menus had an export option to generate a config file as well - which you could use to configure the server and launch it without having runner in the background while the game played.

You could also save your config in a format that runner could later load and edit. Just explore the menus and look for a start server button (I think it was towaard the bottom of one of the main screens).

Thanks for the reply! I had wandered on over to the Runner web site and, after poking around, discoverd the "run" button on the bottom! My 640x480 ancient 15" monitor wasn't showing it at the bottom of the screen, but did when I upped the resolution to 800x600 (can hardly see the screen, though). Now my server's running but not showing up in the MOH client browse window, but if I type in it's "fake" IP address (192.168.1.105) then I can connect, but I don't think it's being seen on the Internet. Probably haven't got my Linksys Router/Firewall set up properly, although I have the address 192.168.1.105 set up as DMZ Host. . .

Thanks again for the help.

If you search the forum posts (use the search in the upper right of this frame) you'll find some posts that have all the network config info. Keep in mind that no one behind the same firewall as the server will see it in the public list, but others should (have a buddy look for it to confirm). You can always join up from behind the firewall either by looking under LAN Games or directly doing the IP as you did. DMZ Host should work, but exposes the machine more than necessary. The network posts spell out the details if you want to offer your machine a little more portection.

To be honest I am repeating what I read in this case (hence the suggestion to search for the original). I amy have got that wrong, since I have not admined any MOH servers hosted at my home.

I got that tidbit from several posts, one from Snype would appear to address it (scroll down on the first page of this thread):http://www.mohadmin.com/nuke/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=1020&highlight=network
but there are others as well.

Don't know man. I just opened up the ports as per the guide in the "Guides" section and I haven't had a problem seeing the server, from the same machine, on either the in-game list or on Gamespy. It may have to do with listing Gamespy in the server list...

old thread, i know, but it needed some closure.

you won't have a problem SEEING the server in gamespy, you'll just have a problem JOINING the server using the external IP if you try and click on the server to join.
