View Full Version : TOW in mixed map maplist

On my test server, running Win98 and accessed with a WINXP computer on a LAN, I can't seem to get a maplist with TOW and TDM maps to run.
I'm trying to run them with MoHAdminMod and Hammer's Goodies 2.O
The following is the maplist:

The fist map plays through, Flughafen bumps me back to the "options room" and I can not access the game. When the third map starts I can re-enter the game. From there everything works until the next TOW map, at which time I get bumped back to the "options room" again. But I CAN immediatly go back to the game and finish the map. Then again, everything runs as it should until the next TOW map...I get bumped...I CAN reenter and play.......this continues until Flughafen shows up again and I CAN NOT re-enter the game until it is finished.
Is my assumption correct that getting bumped back to the "options room" is the price one has to pay for a mixed map setup? What about the Flughafen incident?

P.S. I have the log file of the complete map cycle if needed. (No Hammer debug turned on though)

Not able to reproduce it, send me the log and server configs (incl. MAM and Goodies). Do you see anything on YOUR game console, not the one running the server? TOW maps are huge and take a long time to load, wonder if the client is timing out waiting on the server...

I'll get them to you as soon as I can.
In playing around with things, I removed the Flughafen map and re-ran the map list. It seems to happen on the first TOW map in the rotation.
I don't think its the client timing out. No message to indicate that. And in all but the first TOW map, I can enter the map.
I did not look at my console, so I can't say. I'm using a KVM switch and was flipping over to see what was happening on the server.
I'm away from the machine with the files on it, but will get them to you ASAP.

Please post what you find out. I would also like to know how get that to work and this too TOW>OBJ>TOW>OBJ>TOW>OBJ>TOW.

Floyd, if you could, try getting the latest MAM (v1.2) / Goodies (v2.1), and rerun your map rotation with mam_debug set to 105.
UnDead, have you tried running such rotation yet? Are you seenig any problems?

I have also tried this with MAM (v1.2) / Goodies (v2.1), without success. I will try it with the mam_debug 105 later today.

No I haven't, I am waiting our server hoster to give us an on/off button so we can shut down server to remove pk3s when we want. Right now we have to send in a ticket to have it shut down and thats not any fun. Will be trying this as soon as they complete the start/stop program for our server. Please post as much as you can so I can follow when we get the button in a week or two.

Got your info and saw the disconnects from the server log file. There's no indication from the log file as to why they occured.
I used your config files and attempted to duplicate your environment (except I don't have Win98). I used WinXP to run the server and another WinXP for the client. Ran through all the maps without any problems. I'm clueless as to what your particular probably might be.
The only "special" process that happens when you change into TOW from TDM, is that the Goodies mod attempts to "correct" a problem in MoH:AA by forcing a map restart on first load. This causes the "It's a draw" message the first time each TOW map starts, but after that should run normally. It also causes a slower startup time on "slow" clients (i.e., ones that take a long time to load a map).

Thanks for the effort, Hammer, and the very quick-turn around!
I'm using a PIII 500 mHz Win98 as the test server and an overclocked P4 2.4 WinXP as the client. The server is slow I know, but with the P4, I'm usually one of the first back into a game online. The disconnects were virtually immediate. And when the map changed, I could get back in.
Did you get bumped back to the "home" screen at TOW map change?
The only thing I have that I didn't send was a weapons mod. I'll take that out and see what happens. I don't know why it would affect anything?
I hate to crash the server trying things, but I could go ahead and upload and give it a whirl in the wee hours of the morning I guess. Bummer ;)
When I'm more familiar with MAM, MOHA CI, and Goodies, I've got some questions I'd like to pose to you concerning mapfixes, cheat settings, and possible conflicts between them.
Maybe you'll find some common variable (oxymoron?) existing with those of us having the problem. Good luck. and Thanks!

Nah, not once did I get bumped back out. Try removing all the mods and running your config again. After each map loads, manually set g_gametype for the NEXT map on the rotation. Also set fraglimit to 1 and play through the TOW objs (otherwise you'll have to wait the 15-min each round). See if that makes a difference.

In one of my configs, for testing purposes I had set _ham_force_presets "2:*:1:*:*:*:*:*:*" just to run through the maps quickly. (I changed that to 4 and 2 at one point, same problem)
I'll undo that, change fraglimit and set g_gametype, and get back to you.

No go on removal of the mods and changing g_gametype.
Now, the server just crashes when trying to load TOW maps. (go figure)
I'm going to put this one on the back burner until I get my "cheat abatement" procedures in order. When I get that Hammer'ed ;) out I'll delve into this a little further.
If I stumble upon my problem, I'll be sure to report back to you.

The Same Problem With The TOW Maps I Am Getting Also. But Sometimes It Causes My Server To Crash After The Map Ends And Trys To Load Next Map Or Before The TOW Map Is Loaded. Here Is My Maplist

Another Problem I Faced Is That It Went From obj/obj_team1 and instead of going to the next map which is druckkammern it returned back to berlin? What is Causing This Problem? Hammer Can You Please Help Me Out With Your Mod And Let Me Know How Or If I Can Be Able To Run This Rotation With Minimum Problems?
