I've setup a dedicated server at home behind my router. I have a DSL connection (3000/640) *down/up* What sort of performance should I get based on this connection? The server is an Athlon 650 w/ 768 MB RAM and 4GB HD running un-optimized windows 2000 Pro. I need to disable a ton of services.
I've also downloaded maps which i've placed in my main folder on the server. Is that the correct place to put them? What would be the correct rcon command to access them? I keep getting "Can't find map ... " using rcon map dm/user_xx_xx .
Awesome site BTW!

The mail folder are the right place to put them.
If you are sending the command from a remote computer. it is rcon in front. rcon gamemap obj/obj_team1
but if you type it in the ServerConsole window.
then it si gamemap obj/obj_team1 or 2-3-4 That is Obj.
But the map command is gamemap

dunno about gamemap as an rcon command, but i know that for US/UK version 1.11, rcon map obj/obj_team1 will load The Hunt for me every time if i'm connected to the rcon (by setting rconaddress to the server addy rconpassword to the server password)...
to change to a custom map, you need to examine the .pk3 file or the readme, depending on how good the author was to us all....
if the readme tells you the rcon command to use, then you're fine, but if not, we need to examin it. open it as a compressed folder (zip, however you handle em, open it so you can see inside the folders and locations of the files)...
ok...if its a map expansion, it should have a folder called maps...open it...inside should be either obj or dm (this is the first part of changing the map, the rcon map xxx/map)....if it has an obj folder, you will use rcon map obj/map....
now, for the map part, we need to open the obj folder....if we see carentan.scr inside, we just drop the .scr and thats the map name...
ok...so here we go....we have a zip that has a map folder, then inside is a dm folder, and in the dm folder is mydm.scr (zzz-mypk3.pk3/maps/dm/mydm.scr)....
to call the map, we just use the last 2 parts.... rcon map dm/mydm
***NOTE TO MAKERS OF MAPS*** For us simple folk, please put the name of the map in the readme file so we don't have to look into the pk3 file....a simple "To call the map, type rcon map obj/blah" would suffice
Hope this helps
