Are there any open terrain or woodland type DM maps? All I have found are centered around towns or cities. A nice open country with some trenches would be a nice change.
Thanks

I guess not. So. . . I have to learn mapping just in time for the game to die out...

Angryfields is some hedgerows to fight behind, random arty, mortars, few bldgs on either end for spawn zones. Not bad, but I know what you mean. Another open country map is Moonlight Radio Rain, it is a snipers map, AA, but can be played on SH. I edited the pk3 file and removed the ubersound file from it for it to work with SH. I have found that there are some maps out there for AA that need those to be yanked out in order to not have any sound conflicts. My bosses server runs these maps. Angryfields is new to the server but has been getting good responses. I had to add a couple of objects to the map to provide some cover for the allies as they leave thier spawn zones though.

Actually I have that. And I think it is a great map. More realistic than most of the others I have seen. We play it rifles only and it is very difficult for either side to dominate.

Well yes just rifles, pistols, and nades would be fun, but trying to convince an entire server to switch can be hard at times. We're still trying to get people to download the custom maps. The maps are starting to fill up now. Yes it is a challenging map though.

OH YEAH! I know what you mean. But, I decided to not give them any choice in the matter. It is MY server. So it is my way or the highway. Most are docile and comply. Some bitch and moan, but they are smg whores anyway and have no skills. So it works out. Try a rifles only - no sniper and no M1. Boy! That is when skill becomes a factor. Teamwork, too.

Yes I've done that too, but sometimes I just don't have the strength to deal with the whiners. Good old fashioned bolt action rifles are a blast.

That's why they make rcon clientkick!

true......well I ran it with just rifles, 75% of the players abided to the rule with no problem. But I had some Jerry's kids in there, they got the boot. I would prefer it if EA would just get the rcon wpn commands worked out already so we don't have to ask, we just turn them off. Cutting out snipers and mg's would make alot of small maps much more fun. I just don't have the energy some times to deal with all the dumb dumbs some times.

Have you tried CYGR realism? It is a series of 4 realism patches that range from rifles only to full blown weapons. I use the NoM1 patch a lot. Or, I can mod one any way you like.

What I think is needed is the ability to do it on the fly - without a server restart. You can add the file, but then you have to restart the server (and everyone has to reconnect) before it takes effect. Kind of annoying if you just want to run a couple maps as rifle only - or better still, configure weapons availabilities by map in your rotation. That way you could remove certain weapons from a specific map if they overly dominate that map.
I would only use it when a group wants to try something different for a while. Every time I thought a Nazi sniper on the Hunt was unbeatable, I would find a team of Allies that works together and would clean out the best of them on a regular basis. So I don't think I would build weapons restrictions into a rotation, but it would be nice to have the option for those that want it. What I would like is the ability to restrict weapons for the next map start/load. I think mid map restrictions would be kind of dumb.

Yeah. I wish MOH was more like UT03 in that aspect. You can specify mods and map rotations in the ini files. But, I guess we can't have everything! :(

Thanks for the offer but I have my own Realism mod which I made once the demo was out. I have done updates since then to the likings of the DK666 server. The mod is called SDR Sitting Duck Realism. I made my first mod in AA and didn't release it since it was based off of CKR. This version is of my own creation. And yes on the fly would have to be the thing we would need. I know there are "rifle only" mods out there. Its not hard to do, but its all a matter of wanting it to be map specific. For example on some smaller maps smg's only can be quite fun. Maybe one day the EA crew will get this option running.....one day......maybe.

Well, I won't hole my breath. I think EA Games is done with any further development of MOH. They want to move on. Sure, there might be a patch or two (i.e.:spearhead), which they will charge for, but I don't really expect any major game changes.

What, no Italian campaign? 8O No rumble in the jungle expansion pack? Say it aint so!
Yeah, most games are lucky to get one expansion pack. At this stage, we'd be lucky to get a Sims MOH pack. :D

LOL!!! Sims MOH, and scarey enough, they probably thought about it.......Yes I'm praying they don't charge for more patches. But I know how it goes with the money trail they have going on. Thank the lord we have a good mod community.
