Reissmann, obviously nothing is responding so would need a little more info as to where to point a finger. The possibilities are pretty open ended right now with the info you've given. Just trying to get an idea of the trouble shooting you've done so far....

I assume you have no issue connecting to other servers?

Does your server repond to a ping?

Can you see it in the game browser?

Are you starting a server on your connection, cable DSL etc?

Have you confirmed CoD is running on the server?

Can somebody else connect to the server?

Is it running on something other than the default port and you've not specified it?

Hey df,

I can connect to other servers manually and through gamespy. I can connect to my server through gamespy as well.

My server does respond to a ping.

I can see it in Gamespy and ASE but not in the in game browser.(never noticed this before)

I am starting on my connection (cable)

COD is definetely running on this server, yes.

Other people have no problem connecting. I am assuming they connect through Gamsepy or ASE though.

I ahve not changed the port since the server was provided to me a few days ago.

I'm assuming the major problem is the innability to see it in the game browser, am I right?

Are you trying to connect to the public IP? If so, try the Internal, LAN, IP. Does that work?

I did manage to find my server in the game browser after all. I am trying to connect to the public ip, yes. Where do I find the internal ip. Is it available in the cvarlisy? BTW thanks for your help df.

If you're running a microsoft OS open a command prompt start>run> and type "cmd". At the prompt, type ipconfig and that will show the private IP. You should also see it in the game browser under LAN game.

This is a server that my clan rents from a server hosting company, it is not one that I am running off of my computer. ipconfig only brings up my ip of course and my server is not listed in the LAN games section. Sorry I should have made this clear in teh early stages. Any other ideas?

I'm sorry I missunderstood. When you said "I am starting on my connection (cable)" I thought you meant you were running the server right there beside you on your cable connection. Hmmm even though it doesn't seem to be advertised through the game broswer, that shouldn't affect your ability to connect using a command line. Are you able to connect to other servers via the connect command? If so, you are obivously typing the command correctly. I'll wager that being a rented box at a hosting facility, there are other instances running on the same IP and your server is not running on the default port. If you look at it in Gamespy, you should see IP:portnumber for your server. Specify that port by using "IP:xxxx" ( no quotes, the x's are the port number, and no space between the semicolon and the IP ).

No problem. Glad I could help and sorry it took that long to come to a solution. I'd ask the hosting company about it not being advertised in the "in game" browser though ( unless you don't want it to be ).
