Hello,

I would like to make a request for a guide on how to make my own mixmap mod. Is it possible to do it yourself, or do you need to download one from somewhere in order to be able to run maps in diferent gametypes. (figure that DL'ing makes it easier but that it can be a do it yourself project)

How would I go about making my own. I've messed with a mixmap mod that we had on a SH server that is being shut down (we are now with Ilan, and with the better pings, am looking into running RB and TOW) I've been able to go into the zzzusermixmap whatever the heck it's called and edit the maps so that they run in the proper mode, for our server. (had a problem before with running any of the old orig. mohaa maps running in team match mode instead of what the server was set at; RB, just fixed the line in the scr that had those maps listed to change to gametype 2 and put in a 3) Can someone break down for me how to make one.

The mixmap thing that I have, I guess is for mohaa. It doesn't list any of the SH maps, and for that matter any of the TOW maps. Would like to do it myself if possible. But, would go by any of your recommendations i.e. just go download one and work with it that way, or whatever.

Thanks

Hey check out my mod which allows you to do this by simply changing a config file (no hacking-up .scr files). See the post here:

Yea, I could do that. Ya get more satisfaction out of doing it yourself though ya know what I mean ;) Will probably end up DL'ing your thing though.

Anyone wanna help me get started on it for myself though. I don't mind hacking up scr's and stuff. Want to learn about all of this stuff, so if anyone is willing I'd love to know more about how to do this.

So... Anyone got the scoop on this one.

I dl'ed hammers goodies the other day but haven't messed with it yet. Uhm, If I want to do it myself, is it just as simple as taking the scr's of the maps that I want and editing in the set g_gametype to whatever I want that map to be played in, and put it in the zzzmixmaps thing-a-ma-jig?

I figure, that I can just try it myself and see if it works, but wanted to ask just in case doing this might make something go wrong. Bassically I just want to be able to do the tdm maps all as round based and mix in the tug of war maps, as tug of war maps (not tow that run in round based like I have a few of them now)

Also, is it possible to have a tow map happen twice in the rotation, once as a round based and the other time as a tow? (not sure if I would really want to do that, but just curious) Am I out of luck with be able to have this be a do-it-yourself project, or can someone give me the skinny on this.

Thanks

P.S. Anyone is welcome to come by and check out our servers
66.151.182.57 for Allied Assault (round based & Objective, CKR, and FF on)
66.151.182.170 for Spearhead (round based, stock realism, FF on. Hopefully soon to be RB and TOW)

Ok, I've gotten this worked out; for the most part, myself. I have one more question concerning this is ther is anyone who might know.

I've managed to get (at least on my own PC, testing it there before uploading it to my clans server) RB and TOW maps to work in the two gametypes (3 & 5). As for now I have set up the rotation with a few RB maps first and then the third map in the rotation is a TOW game. The problem that is occurring, and this really is a minor one, is that on the TOW maps players do not recieve points for setting objectives. Usually if you set an objective you get somewhere around two kills added to your score.

Now, like I said, this isn't really a big deal, I don't really care but, if there is a way to set things so that you do get pts for setting objectives, I'd like to be able to have that happen. I don't know if the order that I set up the rotation has any effect on this, or if this is just a by product of doing a mixed mode type of thing. Would having a TOW map be first fix this, or does it matter.

Also, when I've tested this on my machine at home I had to set up the rotation from within the game via the board in the multiplayer screen. And, when I did so, the only way to get all of the maps that I wanted into a list with both tow and dm maps was to start the server as round based (when i did tow, it didn't list the dm maps in the setup rotation area)

When I finally go to the next step of uploading the mod to the server and setting up the cfg file with the map rotation and other stuff, how should I set things such as the g_gametype dealie and so on. I know that I didn't get too much help with this thread so far, but if there is anyone who knows anything about this or can point me to somewhere that I can get more info on this, it would be greatly appreciated.
