View Full Version : DELATOR 2.0, STATUS COMMAND, ROUTERs... hmmm

Just some thoughts. They're a little disjointed; I'm thinking out-loud here:

We started running Delator 2 as soon as YOCHOY made it available, but have been running it off and on since then because it has problems completing it's cycle when there is more than 15 players or so on the server. YOCHOY is aware of this, so this isn't anything new.
I've noticed in the past that the RCON STATUS command is sometimes unreliable. There was a post in here previously regarding it, find it here:

Some interesting points were made there, but I can't stop thinking...

Anyway, our clan server is on a server farm (obviously behind several routers)...
We also run CK's Autokick, but we run it on one our own servers (in one of our houses) which is behind a router; Autokick sometimes won't give us IPs.
We have a "military police division" in our clan that has access to the RCON password and commands. I too, have access to the RCON on our game server. In any event, only one of our "MPs" has any problems. The only problem he has is that RCON STATUS never works. KICK, CLIENTKICK (if someone else gives him the player #), and DUMPUSER... they all work, except STATUS. Guess what? He's behind a linksys 4-port router. None of the other MPs are, nor am I (currently; I dismantled my server so i could set up a raid-array....another story for another time).
I had him open the DMZ for his pc to see if this changed anything, but it didn't. But I can't stop thinking there is something to this router thing.

ANY THOUGHTS ANYONE???

Some routers are really NOT fully open when you disable them. See if he can disconnect the router and plug in live to the net and try that.
Also does he have the latest firmware installed on the router?
