Is there a skin-scanner that works with Spearhead out there ? I run CK Autokick and don't want another full-size-server-watcher. I just want to detect neon-skins and warn/kick ppl using them.

Even though Delator 2 is not officially Spearhead ready, I have it installed on my Spearhead server and have not had any trouble with it. Its the best out there for that purpose.

Yeah, Delator, IMO, really is the best out there. Unfortunately there really isn't anything you can do about users with spaces in their names using anything.

Delator is worthless on Spearhead. Without the ability to check users with nane space you are only catching a few players and the rest go unchecked. I took it off mine unfortunately. So for I have found NOTHING that works on Spearhead....... <sigh>

Yea, thanks F_K, just remembered that after I sent that reply.
It may come down to forcing players to remove spaces from their names.
Supposedly theres another patch on the way, hope EA fixes the Dumpuser command.

there is one simple thing to do about the space in the names..

Do not allow players with spaces in their names on the servers let them know it by automatic messages and kick if they dont listen.

thats not a great way but the only that i could find anyway.My server
runs that way in spearhead until there is any better way to check it.

Have you found a way to kick them automatically or do you sit there and status/clientkick all evening?? Just wondering because i'm about to do the same thing on our server and it would be great if there was a way to disallow spaces.

sadly i dont have found any program that does this :-(

for now i or some of our clan members does this when they can, we
do play a lot on the server and there is almost allways some of us checkin it out but its not the best way i know, but the only thing i can do for now.
if anyone could fix some autokick for this until EA could fix this (will they?)

a future in delator 2.1 ? ;-) along with a ping check/kick function whould be relay nice...

Well now I'm testing Hammers goodies and so far it works on Spearhead. It does conflict somewhere with Autokick but at least I have SOMETHING for cheat skins.

F_K--it was my understanding that Hammers Goodies only did forcing of skins to the client and not cheat skin detecting. Is that true?

Ah yes... sorry about that. There is still nothing like delator for Spearhead but I am trying out the force skin approach. So far the response has been fine so I'll probably just keep this for now. I set the interval to 15 minutes between changes so it is not annoying. I also have been running my own weapons mod for a while now that makes weapons from all sides the same for each weapon catagory so peeps don't really lose anything when the skin changes.

At this point until EA fixes things I think we can only go one of 2 ways here:
1. Force people to change their names to eliminate spaces.
2. Force skins.

Neither solution is going to have a lot of player support but, oh well.

The best way to detect the cheaters using wall hack skins and etc.....is to have the skins yourself. If someone is using a cheat skin and you have it available to you, you will see them running around with it. Then you can tell.

Se7eN--I disagree. No need for you, the admin to have to do all of that when these programs will do the work for you.

Delator will detect wall hacks, aimbots and cheat skins. There is a problem with Spearhead and it is making it difficult for these programs to detect skins at this time.

Let me rephrase my statement. i left out an important point that would have made my post valid. The easiest way to detect cheaters with SPACES in their name in spearhead.....is to have the skins. Since right now the only way I have found to dumpuser someone who has a space in their name is from the actual console for the server. Since most people aren't able to access that console, just having them will help a ton.

Delator still does 75% of the work for you though. It can still check for wall hacks, aimbots, etc on those same players with spaces.

So dumpuser on names with spaces works from the server console? I hadnt tried that. Anyone else noticed that?

I wonder if one of the developers out there could write a proggy that could scan names when players join and then notify players with spaces to change and kick them if necessary?

As for using dumpuser in the console on names with spaces in them. For me, well that only works about 10% of the time. Its quite frustrating actually. Does anyone know of a way to have dumpuser just use the slot #? That would speed up everything.

that whould be rely relay great. Warning messages from delator if player
has empty space and a possibility to choose how many warnings before kick/ban the player.

Best will be if EA couldget dumpuser to work ok but until then.. sometime next vinter...

Well, how about a crc check or something to verify that the skins/model are only those shipped with the original product. That would take away all this dumpuser stuff and even people using original names for fake skins.

Hmm, on second thought... I guess that would take something like Punkbuster or....

There's another option for users with spaces in their names. CODE Security Mod has a function that you can use to make a user switch their name to something you specify. While this may be annoying to the person you apply this to, let them know after you've scanned them that they can change it back and you won't bother them anymore. Beats telling them they can't play on the server anymore.

If that can be done, then wouldn't it be possible to parse the names, check for the space character, then reparse the name back with no spaces? Then the dumpuser should work? May not be as irritating for or even noticed by the player.

I've taken the spaces out of my name. Doesn't look as cool, but at least it no longer gives the impression of trying to beat the system.
