anyone crack the localization.txt problem with spearhead yet? i had edited my localization.txt file for aa to include a message at game connection (to replace "Press Fire to Join the Battle") and also used bazooka joe's swear filter. :D

i tried using the same technique for sh (creating a global directory, copying the localization.txt file into that directory and making the needed changes), but is doesn't work.

i'm not sure where to go from here. has anyone had any luck doing this yet? i want to change the "Press Fire to Join the Battle" message upon connection and also install a swear filter, but i haven't been able to figure it out. :(

i'm hoping that someone has managed to make heads or tails of this latest sh "improvement".

Just an idea that I havent tried yet.....since the 2.11 patch, the callvote.cfg has to be in a pk3 now or it doesnt get read, try putting the localization.txt file into its own pk3 maybe?????

snype -

tried your idea - i put the localization file into a pk3 file (by itself) and copied to the mainta dir, and refired the server, but it looks like its not going to work. i'm wondering if its in a different format other than .txt. anyway, i'll play with it some more and see what i can or can't figure out.

thanks for the idea!

hey snype -

i found a localize.cfg file in the mainta directory and did some editing to it (like the localization.txt file for aa) and fired up the server again and still nothing. . . i'm wondering if the localization file in the pk3 file that already exists can be just straight out edited . . . i'm going to try that next.

i'll keep you posted.

did some more testing and nothing . . . i've created a standalone localization file and put it in its own pk3 file with no luck. i've updated the pk3 file in pak2.pk3 with no luck, i've copied the localization file into
/mainta/global/ and that didn't work. i've edited localize.cfg, put that in a pk3 file still no luck.

i'm about outta ideas. my head hurts so i'm hoping someone else is trying to figure this out too. unless i get enlightened in the next few days, i'm going to lay off it for a bit.

thanks for the idea snype

If you check the console after connecting to a server, you will see a line that goes something like this:

Loading Local\Localization.txt

This leads me to assume that no matter what you do on the server, the only localization that gets loaded on the client is his/her local one.

Someone at EA probably saw the name of the file and said, "hey, this must be a local file"...

Nice going, once again to the retards at EA.

yeah i've seen that line - it just kills me that they had to ruin what was a great game . . . i just might me switching back to an allied assault server. i'm that pissed off.
