delator question

does the delator NOT run on a W2K server? I've tried to install on my W2K server and it won't install, and also on my W2K workstation, and it doesn't seem to install there either. has anyone else had this type of problem?

I run it on WIN2k Server.

when i go an install it, it tells me it needs to update some files and then want to reboot which i do, then after reboot, i try and install again, and it tells me the same message. i've done this about three times in a row and i get the same thing over and over. any ideas?

I'm in the middle of re-installing Win2k Server on my Dual proc VP6 machine that I use for the server right now, but if you send me an e-mail at bgatterholz@gateb.net, maybe I can just zip up whole working installation from the D drive on my server once I get it going again. If I remember correctly it's only a little over a meg.

Damn WIN2k Server was getting real flakey after 2 years and it's time for an enema. We never see this kind crap in the IBM mainframe world, but then again those are multimillion dollar machines. Enterprise ready my ass! Wish I had the authority to just set up a LINUX LPAR on one of the mainframes and run a monster of a MOHAA server!

Hopefully this will work.

I hear ya man! I hope that my motherboard isn't going south. I tried a couple of times to re-install WIN2k Server and it keeps locking up after I install the video drivers. But I remembered now that I'm at work this morning, that I have to run a preinstall off of the CD for the 3COM Server NIC I have before I put it in the slot. I hope that's all it is, otherwise I'm going to have to look into getting an Intel ServerWorks motherboard. Not cheap!

I think the ABIT VP6 was the only Dual Proc PIII board with an AGP slot. I'm thinking that maybe AGP and Dual Proc might not work that well together and that's why no other manufacturers have messed with it. I see your E-mail in my inbox from work, so as soon as I get it going enough to pull that directory off I'll copy it over to one of my other machines and send it your way. It might not be until late tonight or tomorrow as there is a happy hour after work tonight. Between my job as a DoD consultant on mainframes and my Windows and Linux machines on my network at home, I'm long overdue to pound some cold ones tonight. Man does not live for MOHAA alone! lol I'll get it to ya soon as I can though.

whew - i thought i was the only one looking forward to a few corona's after work. i work at a newspaper as a computer tech, so sometimes when i get home i go totally computer dumb (its either that or the fact that i just can't think anymore.

i'm actually getting ready to upgrade my home pc to a P4 and i'm going to put the guts of my current pc into my server (from a PII 400 to a PIII 800). i'm hoping that helps with the gameplay.

well, send that stuff my way when you can (no rush) and throw back a couple for an old campaigner and I'll do the same.

Sorry, I used MS installer trying to make things easier for you all, but the result is just the opposite (that won't happen with 2.0!). To install Delator 1.0, just open the cab file included on the distribution (winzip works fine) and extract the files to a folder of your choice. Sorry! I no longer remember the file names, but it's not hard to figure it out. I think the only really needed file is skins.txt and the rest is created if not found when the app runs. But now I'm too deep into the 2.0 version and can't recall the details from the previous one.

A question about the 2.0 version - have you got a way to dumpuser of players with spaces in their names? (for spearhead)

Someone posted in another thread, perhaps even another forum, that you need a different char. for quotes now. I think it was something like:

rcon dumpuser ?some joe?

Or some crap like that... Yo, you'll probably want to look into that (if I find where that thread was I'll get back to ya) and have a SH patch with that command. :)

So no solution yet to the other character for dumpuser that ChickenBoo posted?

This one is really bothering me too, as I can't get dumpuser to work like some of you can...... I suppose the only way to combat it would be to kick players with spaces in their names... or at least warn them not to have em when they play on your server...
