Hi all..

I have now been struggling for two days trying to get our COD server reporting to ASE./Gamespy .I havetried all ports mentioned in these forums , but as far as I can see , surely only the game port INCOMING should be opened in a router (28960), as reporting must surely be OUTGOING?

In the config I have set sv_gamespy 1

Still no joy....
Does anyone have the black magic method for making the game report to ASE/gamespy, as I am now running out of ideas/ports to try !
People say they cnly see our server in ASE if added manually..no good at all!

many thanks

Add this to your .cfg file on your server, it might work for you:

// Set additional master servers to report to
seta sv_master2 "Master.gamespy.com:27900"

Thanks for the reply..

problem is this...COD reports to the master server browser list OUTBOUND....so my nat router/firewall allows it..
1)So why are any ports neccesary....except 28960...clearly none are , as there is no reply coming back inbound...
2) How does the master browser know that the external ip is bound to the particular machine the server is on..what is it in the config that tells it?

Surely we are not saying here that COD does not work behind a NAT firewall...any decent server setup would probably have this setup..

IW any answers here?
I run Mohaa/BF1942/OFP with no probs..all report no problem...
COD refuses to announce itself....

Im out of ideas here..i packet sniffed it
28960/20510/20500 are the ports in use , but all OUTBOUND...

there must be an answer to this!

well i did a test on your server.

And i gues i have a feeling of what is wrong with your server.
I got a cd key from a friend sent over that he had made on a key-generator.........
And i tryed first to join my own server that are here: 217.8.138.204
And i got cd-key are in use and i could not get in.
Then i tryed to connect to your server from the IP you left here.
And i got straight into your server.

So if you take away your exe file that i belive that are cracked then your serer will show in all the game browsers again.
I would belive that this is where your problem is.

as long as you have opened port 28960 in the router the players can connect to your computer.
All other stuff that are outgoing will allways send.
And the reciver from your outgoing behind the nat can allways send back to you as long you have sendt him first.
becase then he have the needed info to pass your nat to your computer again.

That is how we have built the connecting system for our anticheat for mohaa. So people dont have to open ports in the router to get the anticheat client to work

You're assuming there's no inbound traffic from Activision servers. How do you suppose the cd-key authorization works? I would assume that there's probably going to be a response back saying, "yes, that's a valid key." Cobra has proven that your server isn't validating cd-keys. IW has stated that servers which don't validate keys won't show up on browsers.

Allow inbound traffic to ports 20500 and 20510 and see if it helps.

Hi there

as mentioned before , our server IS validating keys..its an official cd... so its not that...how the "unvalidated " guy got in is his own business !

Probably the outgoing validation packet contains the cd key (which we saw happening in the datagram ) and that gets compared to a database....that would not need any inbound connection....

Tried 20500 and 20510 inbound ...as I mentioned , we packet sniffed the connection to see what ports are used, and its those and the standard one..

Still not showing up though ...any other ideas?

btw surely servers called "CRACKED COME IN" etc should not be showing up then <VBG>

Ok, all I did was Port forward 28960 to the computer the server was running on and it showed up on the Master server

Lo m8,

We had the same problem with our server, the copy of the server was put on by our host but not supported and it didn't work (re-installed it twice) so I got a copy form [lol] clan (which u lot know) and installed that with our key and it works fine.

But no matter what I did before we could not see the server in ase or gamespy but if we manually types the ip in ase it found it, although for some reason the country flag didn't show.

Hope this of some help put I doubt it :|

To get around the NAT in my Linksys firewall, I had to create a static IP through windows. Linksys website has a walkthrough in the knowledge base. Linksys said that this is required to run a gameserver, so I did it along with opening gamespy ports and it worked.

Hi again..

Marvin..cheers for the reply m8 :-)

Maxz...If you are saying that the server needs a static internal IP...it already has...
I have 4 machines on the network..all with static ip's
This machine runs an OFP server currently, and used to run a BF1942 and MOHAA server no problem....

IW ..anyone got any ideas here?
I've been running gameservers for years , but this one has me stumped!..there MUST be a way to get this to report..it cant be that different from other games, though it worries me that you say on your "find answers" that you do NOT support servers behind firewalls , Are you seriously suggesting that people should not run Firewalls and/or NAT?!...Im pretty sure you wont find many gameserver admins who will do that ..

PLEASE give me some clues here!
