I posted a question earlier on this forum about banning players by country, and it was apparent that I needed a big list of IP addresses. Well, I have one now.

I would like to ALLOW all the IP ranges on my list and block everything else. If this is not possible, I will need to block a different set of IP ranges.

Dogmeat's banning guide was interesting reading, but it only applies to Windows - my server is running Linux. I have read here that Autokick can ban IP addresses / ranges.

At the risk of sounding stupid, how exactly do I do this using autokick?

Any suggestions on how to allow / ban IP ranges under Linux would be appreciated :)

I have a Linux server administration tool that runs server-side that is capable of banning IP ranges as well as a bunch of other things. If you want to take a peek at what it does, check this link:

http://www.clanshortfuse.com/projects.shtml

I developed it specifically for Linux servers. Unlike other tools which rely on RCON to obtain information, this program can directly access the console input and output streams in order to gain better control over the game server. This allows it to react to server events as they occur rather than relying on polling intervals to find out what's happening. It also gives the tool access to information not available via RCON which makes features like TK monitoring and the TK !forgive command possible.

Currently, the tool's IP ban logic bans IP's that are specified. If you're interested, I would be willing to work with you to add the ability for it to specify IP's that are allowed and ban everyone else. I don't think it would be that difficult to accomplish. Let me know what you think.

Shockwave wrote one. It used to be in our downloads. Maybe Rudedog can dredge through the old libraries to see if we still have it?
