Hosting a dedicated public server

HI. I'd like to host a dedicated public server. I've read through the various posts but have still been unsucessfull in getting my server to show in gamespy. I'm fairly new to this and would appreciate it if someone could take me through the process in laymans terms. Many Thx. Mac

Sorry i meant to mention that I am not using any kind of router or firewall software / hardware other than the windows XP one. MY connection goes straight out using a 'static' IP.

Have you tried disabling the windows xp one? That one is like a dumb firewall and just blocks ports not normally used such as the CoD port possibly.

I wouldn't risk that one if I were you.

Get a firewall like ZoneAlarm which is a freebie, this kind of firewall allows you to select which programs on your computer have access to the internet and which don't.
