Hi guys,

Thanks for all your help on my server . It's runnning pretty good now. I am wondering how do see realtime from all seeing eye console who is killing who and what people are saying. I've set sv_chatter to 1 which turns on their chat but i still can't see what they are saying. Do I need to reboot the server or change maps to see ? Also I'd like to know exactly whats going on...i.e. seeing who kills who like I can see in the console when I'm actually in the server.

Thanks for your help

The best way to see what is happening on your server is to be connected to the console. If you have set developer 2 and sv_chatter 1, you should get a ton of data displayed to the screen.

If you're looking for a way to cut through all of that data, the tool I created to run Linux servers has a client component to it that has filters built-in for keeping the data stream as uncluttered with unimportant information as possible. I routinely connect to my game server using PuTTY and open up a couple of client sessions with different filter settings. One displays a filtered view of the raw data and the other I set to view chat messages only. If the server is really active, I sometimes open up a third session and set the filter to block all incoming data so I can have a place to type say commands to stop incoming server data from clobbering what I'm doing.

The tool has some additional features that might be useful to you. If you're interested, stop by my site and take a peek at the feature list. I also have the README available online of you want to get some more detailed information. Here's the link:
